I have ordered some solid ZDP189. The laminates are a good idea, if stainlessness is what you want..the 420 is the most stainless, followed by the ATS34. I want the best possible wearabality, but I do know that I am going to be spending a small fortune on grinding belts and wet and dry paper...just ...

Sandvik 120C 0.58% carbon, 14 %chrome, 0.35%manganese, and 0.35% silicone
Max hardness 58 c scale Rockwell

Sal, is your lizard one of these...? Mexican Beaded LizardThe Mexican beaded lizard (Heloderma horridum) It has more uniform spots rather than bands of color(the Gila monster).
