Re: Lego mods

Love the idea! When used as standoffs - do you tap the legos? Does the screw just cut a groove into the plastic? Just wondering how to keep the screws from loosening and backing out?

Re: What about a Watu lightweight?

I would buy any new version, for sure. It is also a favorite of mine, and more variations are welcome. I would guess that it does not sell in enough volume to be worth making frn molds. That would leave a sprint or exclusive. The good thing - sprints/exclusive could change both the scale materials a...

Re: "If you could only keep 5" Countdown

This is a nice twist on a common thread idea. I chose my top 5, but also worked "backwards" if I had one, then two, then three, etc. I may have stretched the rules a bit - they are all modified :p :D five: Ikuchi UKPK/s110v Watu Delica/hap40 wharncliffe para 3 LW/rex45 four: UKPK/s110v Wat...

Re: Lost and Found! Whew!

I had on a pair of shorts that are notorious for things falling out of the pockets. I don’t understand this story. Why do you still have those shorts??!! :D I think they need to be turned into rags scraps to wash the car. Or maybe it would be karma to tear them up and turn them into micarta for new...

Re: Lil' Kapara!

Another thought - I agree with the comments that the long/slender handle makes the comp lock a bit more difficult to actuate. I do think the long slender handle is part of the joy of the knife. One way to make the lock more accessible - convert to button compression lock, a la Smock. The Smock also ...

Re: Para 3 Micarta Scales

I have had four sets of micarta scales from three different makers, and none had the problem you describe. Considering it only appears with your micarta scales on, and disappears with them swapped out, it makes sense that they are somehow causing the lock stick. I just don't know how. As an added po...

Re: Why did you join?

I lurked for many years. Tried a delica and a PM2, but disliked both and stopped lurking :o . A few years later, I decided to try one more spyderco - caly3. Then, the ergonomics clicked. And the steel/materials clicked. And I had to find out more. I still lurk more than I post. I stay because I have...

Re: LC200N or H1 Dragonfly 2 with DARK COLOR handle!

Sorry for the bad lighting - but hopefully it helps.
Top is zdp, with the yellow salt scales rit dyed blue.
Bottom knife is the salt, with the green scales from the zdp (and black hardware from salt).

Re: LC200N or H1 Dragonfly 2 with DARK COLOR handle!

Many options:
- Rit dye as mentioned. I can post pics if you want to see
- swap handles
- knivesplus sells dragonfly salts with pre-dyed scales (only see hawkbills on site now, but pretty sure they can do anything)
- g10 or other aftermarket scales (ie Cuscadi, bladescales.com)

I don't see it on the sticky anywhere.
Call me pleasantly confused.

I was thinking I was already pretty satisfied - then I read everyone's wishlist. Now I want some too!

wharncliffe UKPK
k390 UKPK
New Phil Wilson - there is still the Smoke Creek? although I would prefer a Bow River drop point
Caly3 LW (and maybe k390 even?!)

Re: The negative blade angle wharncliffe that I wish existed

Negative blade angle, but no spydie hole, no comp lock, and no S110V... This is actually the box cutter I use, for all the reasons behind this design. I use bi-metal blades just to make it look kinda blurple  I agree with the utility, I like the execution, and I would definitely buy one. Very...

Re: Poll: How do you carry your Spyderco Dragonfly?

Around the house, I drop it into my front pocket. I think the frn texture keeps it from falling out? I also like to use the shorter wire clip on other knives, so I have extra incentive to buy more dragonflies and carry them clipless :D And - with jeans, the fifth pocket works great. You will not hav...

Re: Polishing Lil’ Native G10 scales?

Very nice! I have tried this, but did not use the flat pan/full sheet of sand paper. As a result, I think my sanding was not consistent across the slab scale. When I would go up to a higher grit - some areas would polish well and others would not. Kinda splotchy. I would re-sand and work my way back...

Thank you for taking us along for the tour. I especially enjoyed the commentary on big knives :D

Re: If you can only have one Delica...

I only have one - hap40 wharnie.
My next - the k390 wharnie. I may cave and get the regular k390 before then...

Just think - one quick and easy way to narrow the choice down considerably is to go with the wharncliffe version
