Re: Mule Team Subscription maybe?
I don't like the idea of a Mule Subscription, it seems to me the mules are out there for folks who want to try a steel on a standard platform, not only for the "gotta catch em all" crowd. For example, I got a MT28, MT29 and MT31, now I'm good for a while until another steel that I'm speci...

Re: Making a Mule Handle (step-by-step)
Simply amazing job of documenting your process. Can't thank you enough for doing this. If you do scales for a living, I will throw some business your way. Or I will gladly PayPal you a few $$ for this tutorial. Very informative and helpful. I always worried about how to get corby bolts or pins even ...

Re: Reveal 8 Released!
I appreciate Spyderco’s love for the blue and the red...somethings never change. Especially during these unpopular times. They could easy just be silent and sell knives and sharpeners. Yet they double down on police models and themes. Their public support means a lot. 100%! Could not agree with you...

https://i.imgur.com/QERwce0.jpg So underrated - rescue knife turned into a general purpose knife Love how the edge goes all the way to the handle, and love the blade shape Agreed. A little heavy with the full backspacer and the lock frustrates a lot of people. Takes some practice to disengage it. B...

Sorry 'bout tho those that didn't get one. We are trying to figure out way to avoid this situation. We appreciate your kind understanding and patience. sal Thank you Sal! Hi Sal, I hope pre-purchase, deposit, or Mule-only subscription options under consideration. I know these all have downsides and...

Re: Past Mule Teams
Hi Kristi,
The issue for me is that the SpydieWiki isn't a wiki. It's now a company web page. The whole point of a wiki is collaborative editing and contribution. Wiki's are often created to fill the information gaps that can't be met without informal collaboration.

Re: Re-examining 9Cr18Mo as an option
Hate to drag up an old thread (*cough* no not really) I just watched a video from Outpost76 testing a couple examples and heat treated properly it seems like a very good steel. Better than any of the imported D2 and rivaling M390 tests. Granted it's cardboard but it looks very promising. I would lo...

Re: Mule Team knives steel hardness testing
There are a few collections of hardness tests out there. One problem seems to be that most people doing the tests don't want to manage the data. Another issue is that it's hard to know when tests are done correctly or done at all. How can we know people aren't fabricating results? I've had ~20 mules...

I'm yet to try LC200N, but Cedric and Ada rate LC very high on their cut tests: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1b_rNfdJnL9oyn-JoL9yUHhUmDLAP1hJ1dN_0q5G4tug/htmlview#gid=1607644856 Yes, above Cruwear,S30V... The numbers from Pete's tests can be misleading unless you look at the details. ...

Re: Past Mule Teams
Kristi, Would it be possible to easily list dates that each went out of stock? Some took years, while others lasted minutes! Thanks, G27 I don't know about the early ones. LC200N, A11, RWL34, PD#1, and B70P were available for a long time. I bought all of these from Spyderco within the last 3 years....

New Sage 1! The original Sage 1 is probably my most carried and used Spydie. I was just speculating on another forum if they would ever do a Sage with a different steel. Yes please with a Maxamet sage. (I don't need a Maxamet folder and would maybe have preferred M390, S45, or S90). Maxamet patina i...

Re: The Serrata - tell me about it
Its on my list. The handle looks very comfortable. I have to ask what is its purpose, or what is general outdoor use? Its not a choppper, not a slicer, not a skinner, I wouldnt filet with it, and while Im sure it can do food prep I dont think it will beat a kitchen knife. There are other thick stoc...

Re: I do not like LC200N *rant*
Toughness in a hard stainless blade is relatively rare when coupled with decent edge retention. Toughness has for many knife enthusiasts been under-valued in my opinion. It permits lower edge angles that perform very well, with reduced risk of catastrophic damage. This is very valuable for me. Vari...

I'll tell you guys a trick I never thought about for knives. An old guy told this one to my dad way back in the day and he forwarded it on to me at some point long ago. "If you don't want your tools to rust, stick them in the dirt" That's it, just push the metal you want to protect into t...
