Re: Sharpening my Spydercos. A simple question...

I have not liked what serrated knives tend to do to my cutting boards. Not sure if this knife would be any different, but I can't easily sand out the gouges serrations usually put in my boards. Our primary cutting board is old... perhaps 30 years or more. It was nothing special when we got it, but ...

Down for one to two days? I'm going to have withdrawal symptoms

I expect that it will be a difficult few days, but plan on soothing my tortured mind by browsing all the knife stores and buying some new knives. It would be easier of some of those new 15V models dropped before the shut down.

If you don't find it to be the most used knife in your kitchen, I'll buy it back from you.

Those sound like the words of a man who has full confidence in his product.

Exciting, Kristi. Not quite like a "knife reveal," but a "forum reveal" is the next best thing.

Re: k390 serrated discontinued?

I couple years ago I bagged a Police 4 K390 SE and it's been great. When they got discontinued and discounted, I picked up an Endura and a Delica. Buy it now, or forever regret it.

Does anyone know of a good stockist that will post internationally? They don’t really have a presence here in Singapore that I can find.
Does Amazon deliver in Singapore? Many of my Knipex trinkets were purchased there.

Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.

So if I’m reading this right lc200n or vg10 are recommended for those getting into SE blades? I don't know if LC200N or VG10 are the best materials for serrated knives. My only experience with Spyderco serrations is K390, but it hasn't disappointed. I started off with the Police 4. It's great for y...

Re: Knipex tools )))

Yes indeed, sir. Knipex stuff is grrrrreat. I have sets of both smooth-jaw and toothed-jaw pliers. Only yesterday I decided that I NEED to find a pocket slip that is thin, small, and capable of carrying the smallest Knipex and a Ladybug.

Re: thoughts on a Spyderco Machete

My neighbor had a giant yucca that was up against the fence. I never cared for the tree. They're fine when they're well tended, but this one had been neglected by the previous property owner and it was out of control. The challenge of yuccas is that underground, they look like an inverted lightbulb...

Re: Upping the price.

This thread has provided me with a greater insight, as well. What I've learned has not been so much in regards to the economics of manufacturing and marketing, but mostly in the mindset of my fellow consumers of bladed tools. Knife-pricing is no different than determining the value of anything else...

Re: Replacement clip for Delica 4

Clip of delica is weak and scratched, so I wanted to replace it. Hey, Robin. I know this isn't the answer to your exact question, but it might help, nevertheless. For the weak springiness, remove the clip. Clamp the end in a vise, the end with the holes. Clamp it as close to the first bend as possi...

Re: Looking For Tips to Darken Micarta with Oil only

Linseed oil and tung oil will work satisfactorily and will dry so it won't stain your clothes. Drying can take days, or as much as a week. Apply sparingly, and wipe off as much as you can. Then set the knife aside until this time next week. Both oils have a distinctive aroma. Word of warning about ...

Re: T15 Testing and Pondering About CATRA (BESS Data Included)

In a way, and at the risk of sounding like I am disparaging the CATRA test--which I am not--it seems like that test doesn't test how long it takes a knife to get dull, but rather tests how long it takes a knife to stop cutting at all, even after it would be called dull. Yet I think that's the point...

Re: Looking For Tips to Darken Micarta with Oil only

I've used quite a lot of linseed oil on my restorations over the years. Invariably it gets darker over the space of a year. Is the darkening due to oxidation of the oil? Is it because my projects get contaminated with other oily filth? That I don't know. But if you want to lay down a finish that wil...

Re: Looking For Tips to Darken Micarta with Oil only

^ Good advice, and if you happen to store shop chemicals like I do, hedge your bets by using fresh oil, say less than a year old. (Ask me how I learned about that....no wait...don't.) Do tell! Do tell! My homeboy gave me an ancient five-gallon can of linseed oil. I had it for about ten years, and f...
