Re: Why can't we have an upgraded UKPK?
I'd be interested in this. I'd like it in forest green G10 and CTS-XHP. I also like earth tones, blue, and gray.

Re: Poll: Interested in a longer version of the Chaparral while KEEPING it´s thin bladestock??
I would like to see Spyderco release a folder with a long blade ground from thin stock. However, I would prefer a thicker handle. The thin handle of the Chaparral is perfect for its intended application as a small EDC folder. But for a long knife, I would like a handle with a bit more girth.

Police 4 LW, K390, fully serrated. I've been interested in trying serrated K390 since I first used the steel.

Re: So what's your top 3 favorite steels? and why?
My top three steels for folders: 1) CTS-XHP: Good balance of traits and takes a great edge. I also find that it is relatively easy to sharpen regardless of the abrasive used. 2) H1: Truly rust proof. Amazing edge retention in serrated configuration. 3) K390: Superior performance! Sharpening is an ab...

I use a Wheeler Fat Wrench on my guns, and I really like it. Admittedly though, I've never used it on knives, so I can't comment on that.

Re: Cruwear micarta Bushcraft/Proficient
This thread has me excited. I have several bushcraft knives that are scandi ground. I love a thin scandi grind for working wood, but I don't like it for anything else. I think of it as a specialty grind. Consequently, I'm in the market for a fixed blade that would serve as a good general purpose woo...

Re: Carbon Steel Temperance 2?
I voted "yes."
As for a carbon steel fixed blade, I prefer toughness and ease-of-sharpening over edge retention. I'm partial to simple steels like O1, A2, and 52100.

The thread on Bowie knives reminded me of this fight scene. It's from the "The Long Riders" starring the late David Carradine.

Re: The pronunciation of "Bowie"
Thanks to Jim Bowie's role in the famous Sandbar Fight of 1827, Bowie knives became wildly popular, especially in the Old South. Today, most people I know from that region are adamant that it's pronounced "boo-ee." Because so much time has passed, this does not provide positive proof of or...

Re: Folder for skinning deer under $125
I'll cast another vote for the Stretch.
I agree that there's nothing wrong with using a folding knife to process deer. Not that long ago, many a deer was cleaned and skinned with the venerable Buck 110.

Re: Philosophy of locks
I'm concerned about lock reliability. I don't want the knife to close until I choose to close it. The only common lock mechanism that gives me some concern is the liner lock. I will use a knife with a liner lock, but only if that model has a proven track record. I'm also wary of liner lock mechanis...

Re: Liner Lock Failure??
I will use a knife with a liner lock, provided the model has a proven track record. But even then, I won't use it for everything. For example, some liner locks can accidentally be released by the fat of my finger during use if I don't grip the handle a certain way. When this is the case, I'll use th...

Re: Most Fidget Friendly Knife
I like the slow, smooth, deliberate opening of a back lock and the satisfying click that it makes when it falls into place. I fidget with my back locks a lot. I think of it as "slow fidget."
