Re: What's a snail trail?
It is most obvious on bead-blasted Ti. The raised stippled texture gets burnished when something harder rubs across the Ti. This results in the fuzzier look of a "snail trail" opposed to just a scratch. My Fluted Ti Millie has been criss-crossed by a snail a time or two. I believe that if ...

That's something I forgot to ask. What is everyone's preference, FFG or hollow grind?Evil D wrote:Absolutely. Especially if it were designed like the original Ronin. Not that I don't like the "Yojombo Ronin" design, I just think for a small knife the original design would be perfect.

Mini-Ronin/Ronin neck-knife/Pocket Ronin
Whatever you call it, would people be interested in a 3" or less, fixed blade, EDC, wharncliffe? Ideally the sheath would work equally well in the pocket or around the neck. Construction would be full-tang, so the scales could be removed for even more discreet carry. The holes for the male-to-f...

Re: Tanto?
At some point, isn't a tanto just a two piece drop point? The lion spy style blade, for example It would approach that level of belly, so similar outside dimensions maybe. Just needs a separate bevel for the tip. http://www.swordforum.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=21639&stc=1&d=108...

Re: Tanto?
I love the looks of some tantos, especially one's with a gently curved kissaki (tip). I don't care much for the exaggerated straight tip tantos. I also don't find them particularly "better" than any other blade shape. However, I would like to see a pronounced tanto added to the catalog sim...

Still love my Yo2. Carrying it right now actually.
I'd love to see what the future of Michael Janich's designs are with Spyderco.

Re: I'm reticent to buy a knife made in Taiwan.
Taiwan has a unique history of quality manufacturing, dating back decades before most of the rest of Asia became industrialized. After China surrendered Formosa to the Japanese as part of the cease-fire that ended the Cino-Japanese War, the Japanese used the island as an industrial region. Later dur...

Had a good little splinter in my finger today from feeding the wood burning stove.
Dug it out quite efficiently with my Yo2's tip.

Re: Why do some denigrate VG10 steel?
I'd imagine some combination of A. other exotic steels being all the rage, B. ELU having unrealistic expectations about the "exoticness" they actually need, and C. seemingly incongruent pricing for the materials (as a result of all the factors that go into Japanese models being expensive)....

Re: Wolfspyder - is this a Spyderco first?
I believe every single Emerson knife uses an additional detent like this. As far as I know, this is the first Spyderco to do so. The guess about it being "gravity knife" related probably isn't too off the mark, I imagine. As the knife was sold exclusively by Ray Mears based in the UK. Ever...

Re: Super Blue??
Super Blue is a very pleasant Steel to use. But I wouldn't go and pay an arm and a leg for an FRN model with it.
If a Caly 3/3.5 in Super Blue came by, and was in great condition, I'd consider paying up.

Re: "I would buy a new Yojimbo 2 Sprint with....???"
Just about any Steel would be great. Preferably stainless, but any excuse to buy another Yo2 is appreciated. What I do feel more strongly about is one bit of CQI that can be brought to tge Yo2, the new stepped stop pin seen on the Military, and PM3. I would welcome that as well, but I have to say m...

Re: SHOT Show 2017 - Videos, Reviews and Gossip
I had an interesting thought this morning while watching the videos. There is a segment of people out there that ask for one of two things, 1. a higher-end Tenacious, or 2. more knives without a choil. Looking at the impressive amount of cutting edge on the Caribbean has me wondering, does that blad...

Not much of a poker player, so if anything the suit symbols are a negative.
But overall a really attractive little gent's folder. Even though I'm not wild about the Heart and Spade, it looks like the fit of the G10 inserts is very precise. The filework is also very attractive.

Ooooooo, that Southard Hanan.
Some interesting surprises, the 100 Pacer especially. The aesthetics look like a bit of an acquired taste, but darn if a wide, flat ground, trailing point isn't a wonderful thing.

Re: SHOT Show 2017 - Videos, Reviews and Gossip
Actually getting a good look at any of the Caribbean models would be great!
I also expect to see the previously announced knives, Q Ball, Police 4, Chinook 4, etc.
I'll most likely be happy with whatever we get, and watch that video dozens of times until a full length review comes along.
