Re: The MAP announcement
Agree I was in the electronics business myself and I hear you. Very familiar with companies like J&R. I wasn't so much myself in consumer electronics however I know what you mean. The last big company that wanted to force me into MAP ended up themselves going out of business not at their will. ...

Re: The MAP announcement
As a business owner my entire life I dread MAP agreements. But the Internet has forced it. I'll make $10 on a product. The next guy settles for $5 to steal business, the next $1 it's hard to make a living. MAP agreements don't help the problem. If everyone advertises at the same price then the top ...

Re: Are Spyderco prices getting out of your reach?
The 'bread and butter' models- the Harpy, the Civilian, the Police, the Military, the PM2, the Manix 2, the Delica, the Endura are all below that average- significantly in most cases.....and it's these 'bread and butter' models that most 'non-Spydie-fans' buy. That's true, but I have the feeling th...

Re: The MAP announcement
While this move can help established companies, it can hurt start-ups willing to take less profit. Also, if certain states are not business friendly, then business needs to leave those areas until the necessary changes are made to make the policies work for businesses. The same way you wouldn't ope...

Re: The MAP announcement
Are you saying the new MAP will cause prices for Spyderco knives to go up, when it comes to we consumers? Because from what I read, the MAP change will not actually prohibit a retailer from selling a Spyderco for a minimum price, it will just ask them to not advertise that lower price, correct? Exa...

Re: Hunting Discussion: Note: Some Controversy
There is absolutely no better way to be in touch with ones primal self and ancestors than to bow hunt big game. Its is not really the killing for me and most hunters I know is the smallest and hardest part. I should mention my family operates an outdoor sporting goods store and I have been a member...

Re: What makes a forum "vet"?
What makes you a vet?- giving out antibiotics to poodles and so forth. ;) ahh, but a *forum* vet would probably just offer advice on treatment, since the functionality of a veterinary e-clinic has yet to be fully worked out. ...or perhaps you were just illustrating that clever word play and sarcasm...

Re: Hunting Discussion: Note: Some Controversy
Wow that's a can-o-worms! Market hunting/poaching = bad and IMO was restricted before commercial fishing for several reasons. First, aquaculture was not developed until recently, whereas domestic land animals have been food sources for millennia, easy to get your red meat fix from cattle, not so eas...

Re: AEB-L -steel, my new favorite
AEB-L is Bohler-Udderholm, which Spyderco already uses in the Italian product and a few Golden made knives.
AEB-L UKPK anyone?

Re: The HAP40 late comers
I believe with the superblue run it was Endura, then Delica then all the rest kind of came out around the same time. I seem to recall the stretch was one of the last to reach market. Pure guess but I'm going to say we see Delicas in 3 weeks and other models in 6 weeks. Vamos a ver. I hope your hunc...

The HAP40 late comers
So now that KC has put all the rest of the HAP40 models up for pre-order, does anyone have a guess (or even better, knowledge of) when each model is slated for release? I'm guessing it isn't any time soon, since KC put the Endura and Delica up for pre-order months ago and the Delica release isn't ev...

I'd say you're the sane one
At least my "collection" is all users, that's how I (try to) justify the excess to myself.

Re: Quick Delica4 Pivot removal question
Hi vlawson, that's really odd. The way that the pivot is keyed the screw head that tensions it shouldn't move like that... but what SpeedHoles describes sounds pretty plausible. If the pivot pin isn't rotating, then loctite will certainly fix the problem. PS You ought to be able to see if the pivot ...

Re: $7 fix for a broken Manix 2 bearing cage!
I'm just holding out for the day someone (Spyderco or other) makes this cage in machined aluminum or something similar. Even aside from durability I think it would look and feel so much better. Why stop at just any metal... Titanium would have the ideal characteristics for this part! or plain old p...

Re: Quick Delica4 Pivot removal question
I said this before, but the fact that your pivot rotates when opening/closing means that there is "something up" with the knife... current D4s have a flat on the side of the pivot and a corresponding flat spot in the hole the pivot goes through, the pivot should *not* be able to rotate. Ma...

Re: Tatanka vs Voyager lock strength test By Cold Steel
Well let me ask it this way, and I know this question has likely been asked before in different ways: Can I have 100 percent assurance that if I had to survive in the woods or jungle or desert with an Endura (Saber Grind, FRN handles), can I trust the lock to hold up to practically whatever cutting...

Re: Nitpicking the Caly 3
I guess in fairness I ought to say how fantastic the blade grind and backspacer finish are (*perfectly* flush lockbar open and closed), not to mention the flawless fit of the scales to the liners (aside from the microscopic gap between layers) and the perfect edge bevel all around the scale perimete...

Re: Nitpicking the Caly 3
It is one of my all time favorite knives and I am sad to see it go. Bummer about the poor fit on the scales. :( I think it must be the nature of the CF material combined with the fact that the scales are really only held firmly along the spine and at the pivot that creates this situation, hardly a ...
