Re: (Q) should Spyderco publish there Rockwell Hardness of there knives or should they do a “MAX’ line where they harden
Well I think it’s just good to know. I saw some one say it’s like ordering a super car or sports car then knowing what type of fuel runs on and what size engine is in it, so it’s like stainless or carbon and engine size is the hardness and because it would be a factory custom like a super car, I don...

Re: (Q) should Spyderco publish there Rockwell Hardness of there knives or should they do a “MAX’ line where they harden
Oh no don’t get me wrong I’m not saying Spydercos are too soft and I’m sorry for the confusion. Infact they are fantastic and I wouldn’t change a thing but what I’m saying is if there were the option where you could order a factory custom with a choice of say 3 different hardness what would you choo...

(Q) should Spyderco publish there Rockwell Hardness of there knives or should they do a “MAX’ line where they harden the
Hello Guys, I was recently reading a thread where folks were guessing about why they think Spyderco doesn’t tell us the HRC if there knives and it then dawned on me ! wouldn’t it be a great idea if you could choose the hardness as factory custom order (Not on there Full Production Knives) I’m only a...

Re: Shipping of internal parts
Hi Sal, (Q) I know it’s got nothing to do with this but I’ve always wondered why Spyderco does not give out the Rockwell hardness of there knives ? Say in the catalog or the little leaflets that come in the box that tells you about the steels, Or generally ? I only ask because you are the best perso...

Spyderco SGPS Steel knife ?
Hello all, I reciently came across SGPS Steel and actually own a few knives in this superb steel but I don’t belive Spyderco has used it and I just want to know any of your thoughts on this because it is a very resilient steel that can quite comfortably reach 63 to 65 Rockwell. Falkniven use it at a...

Re: Shipping of internal parts
Collecting and shipping parts overseas is expensive. Will you pay for that service? sal
Hi there Sal, I really admire your willingness to offer this question up because I suppose there questions with in this question amongst the other questions you have asked. Namely the big issue of having ...

Hi there Sal,
Have you looked at what other knife companies are doing about this as I’m sure they also must encounter this same problem ?

... https://m.popkey.co/d6ad76/XRNj5.gif Let's try this one more time. Sal's post is about about a specific problem - knives, which have been tempered with, are being returned to dealers as new, or demanding full refund. This causes several problems. So how can Spyderco prevent this specific occurr...

Re: Taking apart knives
No gluing is not the answer and neither is the tamper proof seal. I belive like the major phone companies do there should be small authorised repair shops set up both in the states and in Europe. Doing what you said could make Spyderco lose 15% to 20% of there customer base possible more as the peop...

Re: Taking apart knives
No it wasn’t HH, those guys are good people over there and wouldn’t do that. There a very reputable company and look after there customers and I have a lot of respect for those guys as they have gone above and beyond the call of duty to help me in the past. I only buy of HH now after what happened a...

Re: Taking apart knives
I’ve read Sals original post a few times and it seems to me like his complaint is about people who disassemble, tinker or mess up a new knife and then ship it back to the dealer for refund. His post is not about people disassembling their own knives that they keep. A large portion of this thread ha...

Re: Taking apart knives
If one lives outside the USA and chooses to buy a Spyderco outside your country's Spyderco distribution network you have to accept possibly a higher cost of ownership. Your choice. t.
Might I suggest that Spyderco help there over seas customers with supplying them with some spare parts in th...

Re: Taking apart knives
Sal may be you could look at what other knife companies are doing about this and go from there. It’s very interesting to read all the posts on this but the vast majority are saying they would stop buying Spyderco knives if you started to prevent people from taking apart there knives. One of the thin...

Re: Taking apart knives
I’ve bought one or 2 Spydercos and the screws where the tool fits in were stripped or partly stripped but thankfully I didn’t send them back but from what I’m hearing here is that your telling me that I probably have been sold disassembled knives ? I didn’t send them back to the retailer because of ...

Re: Electrite Co-12 sprint run.
Yeah I think I’m going to try some of these steels. I love buying Spyderco sprint runs because I love trying new steels but I also love making my own sprint runs out of steels that are new to me. Top of of my list at the moment is UHC steel, K390, L6 (Not Demascus styles) and I’m going to try some C...

Re: Electrite Co-12 sprint run.
It’s got a very high wear resistance according to KnifeSteelChart but I was just throwing it out there. I was also looking at AISI L6 Which has a lot of niobium and it’s easey to see why it was used in bandsaws. Niobium actually fills in between the crystals of steel making it harder to rip or tear ...

Re: Taking apart knives
I don’t think red locktite and soft screws are the awnser, I think that customers need educating and that they should be a Spyderco YouTube channel and it should be put on leaflets in every Spyderco box. If you pin and glue or either one every knife then Spyderco will be inundated with an influx of ...

Electrite Co-12 sprint run.
Just been glancing over some steels made by Latrobe and there Electrite Co-12 looks like an amazing steel. Very high in carbides such as tungsten and cobalt and molybdenum and the really cool thing about molybdenum in steels and in particular when it’s in high amounts is that the harder it’s used th...

Re: HAP 72 or CPM REX 121 Spydie
I’m relatively new on here so forgive me if this has already been brought up but I just want all of your thoughts on where should Spyderco go next in terms of Super Steels because we’ve had HAP 40 and we’ve had CTS Maxamet both are very high alloyed high speed steels but since the HAP range of stee...

Re: HAP 72 or CPM REX 121 Spydie
The thing we all need to look at is that we need to progress and never regress, never 2 steps forward 3 steps back and as the way steels are made with ever more advanced processes with more complex compounds added with ever increasing complexity I want my favourite knife company (Spyderco) to lead t...
