For me I'd want as close to the original C44 design as possible. Handle slab choices:1st preference Micarta, 2nd G10. I have no problem with FRN but IMO this could not do the original C44 justice. Honestly though the most important safety factor is that the spine of the blade sits next to the pocket seem. I.e RRP-tip down. RFP-tip up.

FWIW I only carry tip down at work.

Primary RRP SE 440V Millie
Secondary IWB, gets rotated as needed : D2 Para, Ti Lum Chinese, M4 Millie or GB M4 during the working week.

Weekends: I only carry a mini Persian usually.

But as far as actual backups go.. I have 2 D2 Paras & 2 SE 440V Millie's (and another one the way :D !)

Johann, I've fairly large hands too. The most comfortable Spydie I've encountered so far is the Chinook II / III. While I don't presently own one, based on the very similar handle shape I'd be looking at the Superleaf. The GB M4 works well for me, as do the Millie's. Other possibilities which might ...

The SS Atr & GB M4 are far smoother than any other spydies I own.

Surely there were good reasons for the choice of steel, but, sadly, for me it's a deal breaker. I'm still boycotting the Para 2 until it appears with a full Spyderedge . Aside from that I could not resist a Ti/G10 integral comp lock Para 2.

It's looks like a nice little tank of a knife with great steel too, I'd love to own one, but I honestly cant justify spending that much on it. For that sort of money I'd rather be buying sprints & grails.

Funny how I don't particularly like CF nor do I don't like Mr Bradley's exposed liners either, but mention CPM M4 & wharncliffe in the same sentence and you can bet I'm getting it :p

S30V has never impressed me nor has it agreed with me. I've happily stayed away from it for the past couple of years now. For "general purpose" edc I'll take VG10 over S30V every time.
