What I want is an e4 waved, g10, full flat grind. Now that would be a great knife.

It's 5 dollars per 2 knives. I couldn't get them sharp (enough for me) any more. I have diamond stones, sharpmaker, and ultra fine stones. My dad has an even older one, it has a plastic see through pouch, a smaller handle, and only white stones. Said he bought it at the del mar fair years ago.

Spyderco has been making byrd knives in china for a while. Now they just have a round hole in them.

At least your friends have spydercos. I always end up sharpening some peice of crap. I have a hard time getting an edge on cheap steel. I've gotten some that were like butter knives.
