Re: The Final (probably) Three, Revised

Dlc M4 Manix XL
S90V/CF Shaman
ZDP-189 Dragonfly, though it’ll be replaced by a K390 version ASAP.

Re: S30V Support Club

I love s30v for a casual edc, but I need more wear resistance at work. S90v, k390, rex45, etc are all just flat out better for my uses. If I ever stop cutting miles of 6-walled, glass impregnated cardboard, then s30v will be just fine.

Re: Manix clicking

Of my 6 CBBL knives, 2 have that click. I haven’t seen or read anything about the clicking causing any problems, so I don’t worry about it. If anything, I kinda like it because it might provide a warning on the off chance that the knife opens in my pocket.

Re: BladeHQ M4 Manix XLs

Mine just came in and they’re perfect! Much more acute factory grind than my other XLs, which I like.

Currently giving them an EDCi bath. The DLC soaks the stuff up like a sponge. Should be dang near rust proof after it dries.

Re: Form vs. Function

A knife has to be functional for me to buy or willingly use it, but I won’t buy a knife if it isn’t aesthetically pleasing to me, regardless of functionality, unless I’m solely after a steel I want to test. PM2 being a prime example of one I only buy or use for the steel. The Shaman, Manix XL, Carib...

Re: What will you be getting from the new reveal?

Well, if these sell like the first crucarta run, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a pd#1/micarta run at some point. The joys of steel analogues creating sprint loopholes.

Re: BladeHQ M4 Manix XLs

The one of each per household rule, along with releasing both at the same time instead of months apart, probably helped a lot in ensuring that they’d take more than 5 minutes to sell out. Glad these sold out quickly enough to show people are interested, but slowly enough that most people who really ...

Re: Ideal Blade Steels For Whittling?

Lc200n is perfect for whittling. S35VN, K390, and A11 all take amazing edges at any grit. 13c26 (AEB-L) and 14c28n are designed to be used in razor blades, and should be perfect as well. Basically, if the steel is very fine grained, tough, and fairly stable at 10-15dps, it will work well for whittli...

I was tempted to buy both but I found restraint.
I lost that restraint :p . Got one of each. First time buying 2 of the same knife in the same steel, but I like m4 and want to support Manix XL sales.

Re: BladeHQ M4 Manix XLs

Got my order in but **** the website was lagging. This drop is more popular than expected, which is a very good thing in my book. The better this one sells, the better the chance for more sprints and exclusives later.

I’m getting the dlc (do or do not, there is no try). This will be my first dlc Spyderco knife, though I have some Seki TiNi blades.

Re: Want to go to the big leagues....Manix 2 XL or Military

I defininely like the Manix XL more than the Military. It cuts better due to the thinner stock and wider blade, and is more durable all around (unless you pry with the middle of the blade, in which case you probably shouldn’t be using a knife for the task). I don’t use pocket clips, so I can’t comme...

Re: pain to sharpen SE blades?

Shaprening SE is easy with a bit of practice. Sometimes even moreso than PE. Repairing major damage to SE is exponentially more time consuming than PE, though. Much smaller abrasive surface area to work with.

Re: BladeHQ M4 Manix XLs

It's hard to predict the response to these. A lot of people have been vocal about them but historically the Manix 2 XL doesn't sell like the hot models, the PM2 and even the Military. My theory is that not enough people are in jurisdictions that allow carry of 4" blades. But it is a good price...

Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.

I FINALLY got my SE Caribbean edge completely fixed up after working on it over the last few months. Broke down a couple boxes with it today, and can’t help but marvel at how well it went through the cardboard. I’m thrilled to have that knife back in my rotation.
