Re: Where does SPY27 Steel sits among the current Steel lines?
That sounds a lot like a difference in edge angle. You can easily make simple low alloy steel types dramatically outperform complex alloys in cutting tests by using a different edge angle. (Which is one of the best arguments against using expensive steel in a knife.) The edge angles were the same. ...

Re: Where does SPY27 Steel sits among the current Steel lines?
What CATRA does not measure is the front end edge retention, especially through non abrasive materials, such as clean cardboard, cloth, tape, plastic, etc. The CATRA test generates a full sharpness loss curve. It tests every stage including “front end.” Understood. With a CATRA machine, is there a ...

Re: so where's rex45 going anyways?
At the absolute top of my wishlist for REX-45 would be a back lock Lil Native, with thinner stock like a Delica, but thin behind the edge like a HAP-40 Dragonfly.

Re: Where does SPY27 Steel sits among the current Steel lines?
Just to follow up and clarify something... Im a big fan of what Larrin is doing at knifesteelnerds.com. Im not discounting his work at all. I bought his book and contribute a little bit every month on Patreon. I encourage all of you to do the same. What he is doing is very important. Demystifying kn...

Re: Where does SPY27 Steel sits among the current Steel lines?
It's important that "wear resistance" doesn't get confused with "edge retention" It's a tricky subject and I have no problem admitting that I dont have a full comprehension of the subject matter. Anyone is welcome to correct me where I'm wrong, or otherwise fill in any holes. Wea...

Re: SNK Native 5 G10
Count me in for sure!!! On Instagram they said that we might see a Military in 4V I honestly don't know about a Military but I do know they have some surprises planned that are gonna light the forum up You have my attention! Let the speculation begin! Are they resurrecting older models?? 🤐 Para3 LW...

Re: SNK Native 5 G10
I like that they announce the date and time. I prefer this to how REC did it simply because when it's an unscheduled release, exponentially more effort has to be made in order to watch notifications like a hawk. I do like the effort that REC is making but I still missed the REC PM2 simply because I ...

Re: Production Cruwear and 4V
The difference between Cruwear and 4V is night and day. I've got each of them in both the Shaman and Manix and the edge retention on both in 4V is far superior than Cruwear. I'm actually considering selling my Cruwear Manix towards a future purchase because it's so blah, middle of the road. I'd tak...

Re: Spyderco in use, review/feedback thread
I just found this thread... This is great, I dont know how I didn't see it sooner. Thank you for sharing all of this! I do own SPY-27 but due to being distracted with so many other steels to play with, I've not truly put it through its paces. However I have done some cardboard cut tests with it in t...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
PSX_20200813_154537.jpg Very nice, love those scales. That's the BHQ exclusive with solid copper handles, not even a steel liner. I'm really happy with it so far. Maybe a left field question, but how heavy is it compared to the Manix 2 G10 (if you have that blade)? Curious with its weight and heft....

Re: The Next Delica
Im eagerly waiting for the Wharncliffe Delica in K390.
Beyond that, the ultimate Delica for me would include full stainless steel liners, Micarta handles, and CruWear.

Re: Any Spyderco Military sprint runs or exclusives coming out besides REX45?
So please Spyderco, Dealers, and anyone else who cares - don't forget about the Military or deprecate it in the mix of products. There's clearly a lot of Millie-lovers here and we are patiently waiting to try novel steels on Spyderco's most versatile showcase knife. Being newer to Spyderco, I still...
