The original Stretch would have peformed well in this regard, I believe.
Some of the Spyderco fixed blades would also work well in this application.

check out that album today on my lunch break, sounds interesting!
If you don't know Bad Brains, you're in for a treat. That is such a classic album.

Re: Wedding Spydie

I'd second the following three
- CF weave/ G10 laminate Chaparral
- Hap40 pakkawood Delica
- Damasteel Urban

Each is excellent.

Re: UpTern!!

I received it. It's cool. I like the design and pinned construction.

This is the first value Spyderco I've bought in a while and glad I did.

The blade and edge shapes seem rather useful.

Re: Does you S.O. asks you this question?

Lately I’ve been selling knives… 13 sold to the tune of around $1800. This is to help fund a very nice solo canoe. She is no longer asking about knives, but rather “why do you need 4 canoes?”. Going for 5 babe. Sounds like N+1 with bikes. Alternatively expressed as S-1, where S is separation by you...

Re: Best Spyderco slicer 2022 edition

The Delica is too thick bte to be a great slicer but the Chapie is indeed a champ. Well my K390 Delica is between 0.013" and 0.015" BTE on its first edge ! But I have another that is on its first edge too (ZDP variant) and it's over 0.020" if I recall correctly. Maybe it's like the G...

Of course it looks like abrasive wear from the cam of the tang...

Any metallurgists or knowledgeable folks:

Is some of the other wear/ damage possibly galling or adhesive wear?

In the days before UL backpacking, I hiked thousands of solo miles in deep backcountry and wilderness areas with only a Gerber LST. I never felt under-knifed, nor was I under-prepared.

Re: Blade Length to Weight Ratios

As to Wartstein, I sent him a PM a week or more ago and have not heard back. I truly hope all is well, but as he is a mountaineer and a rescue climber, I worry. It would be good to have some news from him. It is my sense that he's taking a break from the forums. Indeed hope all is well, Gernot!

Re: Blade Length to Weight Ratios

I also dont care about ratios/specs. I just use what works and use what I like. Also its going to be pretty hard to beat the edge length to weight ratio of a pizza cutter. :winking-tongue I think Ill just make this joke every time this comes up. Hahaha! I had entirely missed this thread until now. ...

The Atlantic Salt still uses this clip attachment method, no?

Are there any other models still in production using it?
Atlantic salt
Rescue/ saver salt
Assist uses a barrel wire clip
Maybe others.
Thanks.

Re: Best Seki K390

To be clear, i'll also likely end up with a K390 stretch. I really like my Hap 40 Stretch and V-Toku 2 Stretch 2, enough so i had held out for a drop point K390 Stretch. Sal seems to have hinted a few times that the straight spine model is enough of a better seller that i'm thinking we may never see...

My only Delica is a K390 model. It came with a very nice thin grind, which i think is optimimal for K390.

Re: models you'd like to see in the salt series

I have repeatedly made requests for LC200N FFG salt versions (I am also interested in Magnacut) of:

Stretch 2 drop point
Native Chief
G10 Native 5

I would buy all of these models if they were available.

An LC Jester salt would be cool too.

Is it more practical to have a single bevel chisel grind steel or ceramic with diamonds or other hard carbide’s impregnated/bonded to the one side so the only place the hard tiny nuggets are on the surface/cutting edge so that you don’t have the loss of toughness and have all the hard cutting micro...

I agree with Hans... Probably a broken split spring, which might not be visible from the outside of the knife.
