Re: Manix 2 LW needs an update badly.

I wonder if there'll be any name change for this update, since we already have a Manix 2 Lightweight... or maybe some designation like CQI?

But mainly I want to know what we can do to speed it up

Re: Manix 2 LW needs an update badly.

...Never thought there'd be people voting against ergonomics, although lots of people fear change . Right. (As my wife says, the only thing we have to fear is change itself .) The Manix has been my favorite from the start, mainly the G-10 model, and I've mentioned the square edges of the FRCP, part...

Re: Stretch 2 or Endura 4

I don't know off the top of my head, is the ZDP Endura available in FFG or still saber grind? That would be a deciding factor for me and would strongly sway me towards the Stretch if it's not available in FFG. The Stretch is a great slicer. It is! I had an ffg ZDP Endura.. Mine is FFG too, bought i...

Re: S110V doesn't "feel" sharp

I agree with Sharp Guy. It seems the more precise and careful you can be the stickier the edge. Of course this is true of every steel but I think S110V is a lot more sensitive in this regard. I know since getting my Wicked Edge system, I can get stickier edges on S110V (and others) than I could eve...

Re: Why did you join?

I think another interesting aspect of this is "Why did you stay on and why do you keep coming back?" I first came on to ask about a minor problem with a knife but stayed on because of the surprisingly friendly helpfulness and high caliber of the members. Then I got caught up in the excitem...

Ideally, of course, try 'em in hand when possible, but that's a 100 mile round trip for me, so not done very often.

Re: S110V doesn't "feel" sharp

This sounds like my experience with ZDP-189 vs. K390. The ZDP doesn't bite into the back of my thumbnail after sharpening like K390, but still shaves. I thought it was just the difference in steel composition.

Re: Stretch 2 or Endura 4

The Stretch 2 fits my hand better and I really like the choil. But I've carried Enduras more because my Stretch is the G-10 model and heavier, with sharper angles on the handle than the lightweights. Also, there's the blade shape, which seemed a little like a dwarf cutlass until I got used to it :) ...

Re: Tool Steel Regular Production Folder Option

K390 PM 2 (and) 3 or Shaman would be cool! That's all I have to say. It is! BBS did them as an exclusive and as an owner of one of the Para 3s, I have to say that I fully support either additional runs of the BBS versions, or a permanent addition to the regular lineup, with K390 blue scales (G10 pl...

Re: Tool Steel Regular Production Folder Option

I would at least like to see a few Golden models in K390 in the meantime, especially a Manix 2, either G-10 or lightweight. Given the corrosion possibility I guess G-10 would be better -- or better yet, LW with screw construction  I was thinking 4V would be good too, but I see that some put in...

Re: Where Balance Point?

I think it's a mixed bag for folders depending on whether you want lightness in pocket or balance in hand. Just considering the latter, I like balance around 7 or 8, like maybe my G-10 Stretch. Back in the antediluvian days I got a Camillus "survival" knife with a heavy hex nut shaped butt...

Re: Police 4 questions

Sir, thank you for taking the time to monitor this forum and respond to customer questions. I want you to know that I prefer the FRN to the G-10 because of the FRN texture, it is easy to keep a good grip on when cold or wet or oil is on the hands. I have had an endura 4 and delica 4 with a similar ...

Re: Police 4 questions

Late to the party, but I'll add my vote. I like the Boye dent because I depress the locks with the sides of my thumbs and it's a comfortable fit to the curvature of my first thumb joint. It probably wouldn't make much difference with lightweight models, but the lock is pretty stiff on my G-10 Stretc...

I'm getting very anticipatory about this one, although I don't have the same response Doc Dan mentioned above (though he was talking about the S SSS). I usually just sit on the edge of my chair with bated breath ;) Anybody heard any news about it? I know the new Covid wave in Japan has slowed things...

Re: Compression lock Manix

I'm the opposite. The CBBL is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I think Spyderco should modify all its Compression Lock knives to accommodate the CBBL. PM2 with a CBBL? Now THAT would get my attention! i agree, and make some that are smaller. para 3 and chap sized. Ha ha, well maybe not change...

I like to just pull back on both sides of the cage with the butt of the knife held against the bottom corner of my palm and let the blade fall in by gravity. No flipping necessary. Three fingers on the bottom edge of the clip and thumb and forefinger on the cage pull the butt of the knife firmly aga...

I need to oil the washers of my tenacious, i have wd-40 and household oil, which would be the best to use kroil I'm no expert on this, but until one comes along, I'll say, if I had that choice, I'd use a very small amount of the household oil, assuming it's something like 3-in-1 light machine oil. ...

I've got a scar on my pinky from a knife carried in the same manner (except tip up). Pocket seams aren't foolproof.
No doubt... I'm sure it also has a lot to do with how active you are. It's easier to be careful when lazing around the house :D
