I was gunslinger in a New Age chatroom because I'm a gun nut*G*.After a devistating life-change a cyberfriend suggested I visualise this as a natural disaster(fire, flood, etc)& what would survive.I chose the lowly earthworm:the small wriggling one who never gives up;never quits wriggling until he...

Amen to those who've expressed concern for our right to carry a knife(anywhere;not just on airplanes)& to those who stick-up for the old Boy Scout motto. As I ask when teaching survival prepardness classes,"Give me a good reason NOT to keep a little food, etc on hand & learn basic skills?...

Well said gentlemen. This may be more of a folklore question, but some cultures/traditions say it's bad luck to gift a person a knife;that you should always get a token(say a penny)payment in return.I was taught that a knife was a "Warrior's Gift"-to be given to someone worthy of a blade(we...

Wolfie: I think you stuck your finger into your nose & picked a winner with the 40/30/30 idea! I can see this as a 4"folder & a 4-6(?longer?)fixed blade.
Dav:Indeed add the bottle opener @ the bottom.Yes;I've been known to take a wee dram now & then-I favor single-malt*G*.

P.S.-While empployed by Wal-Mart I recommended & sold many a Gerber LST with the 50/50 edge & recommended Spyderco to many customers. If I didn't carry the Delica I'd say the Gerber LST with the 50/50 would be my choice of an EDC knife(in fact,it IS lighter & more compact than the Delica!).

I thought the 50/50 or Combo edge was a gimmick until I bought my first Delica;now I wonder how I got along without it.Please note that Gerber,Buck,Schrade, etc.are marketing combo blades-'Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery'.Camillias has a 2-blade folder:1 plain 1 serrated. It or the Dyrad m...

I sometimes carry a Merlin as a MBC knife to backup other weapons.I agree that a straight blade that will both cut & thrust is better, but as a weak-hand blade the intimidation value of a serrated hawkbill should not be dismissed.
