It's just below VG-10 in performance, when heat treated properly. It and the American 154CM are pretty much the same steel. RKBA!

For me it takes about 1/3 more honeing verses the other premium steels, but the edge stays sharper noticeably longer then say VG-10. Like any steel the heat treat is important, but even more so for D2! D2, 30V, and VG-10 are my current favorites! RKBA!

If they aren't real bad you can take care of them on the med. sticks. Other then that I recommend a good med. AK stone or a med. grit diamond hone. RKBA!
