Re: Sal too thin tips on spyderco
I just woke up and was thinking I read the OP wrong. Nope, I didn't. I'm a former Firefighter Paramedic and Army Infantryman...I find it hard to believe the OP is an officer of any sort, and if so, is inexperienced and in the "need coolest gear" phase. I may be incorrect...but if this guy...

Re: MAP policy change? 35%
I am trying to understand what exactly is causing all this fracas. Is it the fact that there is a change to MAP and it seems like the dealers are seeing the benefit? Or is it simply that the prices (due mainly to MAP) have gone up? Would folks be this upset if Spyderco sold direct and raised the pr...

Re: Sal too thin tips on spyderco
But is it harder than the front of a skull? Because this guy is clearly concerned that a knife straight into the forehead may break the tip off. it is not. according to the "walking dead" tv series you'll never know when the op is going to end up suddenly in the presence of a zombie horde...

Re: Sal too thin tips on spyderco
Do you carry around a Ruger Super Redhawk too? This way, worst case, you can bash someone with it since it weighs more than a cinder block. That is, if the 6 .44 magnum rounds you shot at someone from less than 10 feet away were not effective enough. Then, when you go to court and they take your wea...

Re: Sal too thin tips on spyderco
Welcome to the forum Officer. :) Man, I'm hearing you! You have to wonder what Spyderco are thinking making flimsy tip knives like they do. Tuesday, just gone I was accosted in the street by a mob of Jihadists in a white Toyota Land Cruiser with a .50 Cal mounted on the back, flying a bl...

Re: MAXAMET Questions and Discussion
This discussion is way over my head but here goes... My question is, how corrosion resistant is Maxamet? How does it compare with other steels, say, VG-10? Thanks all and please excuse my ignorance. :) There is a post on here somewhere from surferringo where he basically didn't clean his maxamet kn...

Re: Slicing apples
I use at least a 55cc Stihl. Nothing less than a 20" bar too. I find the 880 magnum is the best tool for the job; allows for long range cutting too with the 60" bar.

Re: BHQ with a hap40 Lum Tanto exclusive?
Looking at it, I don't really see the appeal? Can someone enlighten me here? I see the gray one on Spyderco main website, so I guess the only difference is the steel and color. Looks like it can't be carried correctly in the left pocket. What is great about this knife? Actually asking not being a d...

Re: Counterfeit PM 2?
Anything is possible. One of my PM2s is missing a washer; bought it from a dealer, is completely legit, etc - I guess it just got past QC. I guess if they could miss putting a washer in place, its possible the lanyard hole wouldn't be perfectly chamfered.

Re: Knife storage - Pelican & Apache cases
I have a Pelican 1300 sitting on my dresser. No reason to buy the foam inserts - the foam in the case works well. If you get an 11xx case, make sure you know that you can probably NOT stand the knifes in, and you will need to lay them down. The case is around 4 inches tall, I believe. A PM2 handle i...
