Re: School Me On Guided Sharpeners

Thanks for the words of encouragement Tims. I ended up walking away for the night. Decided to take the dog for a walk and watch some playoff football. Cant let knife edges get the best of me! Thats the go mate. Now when you go back to it, have a full plan in your head of what you want to achieve an...

Re: School Me On Guided Sharpeners

One I left out - the Sharpmaker with diamond or CBN. If its primary purpose is to reprofile at a consistent angle this might also work. I just worked at my Para 3 M390 for over an hour on the Sharpmaker and it's still a butter knife. I'm about to throw that thing in the trash. Stones are clean, sha...

Re: Massdrop R. Laconico Keen

I’ve carried my purple the last few days and agree Murph’, the quality is definately there.

Hows the finish on yours? Is it raw ti with a blasted finish or does it have the WE oil finish?
I wouldn’t mind a grey with holes

Re: School Me On Guided Sharpeners

My sharpenimg has evolved from Freehand > Lansky > Sharpmaker > Hapstone v7 The only issue I’ve had with the Hapstone is the finish or coating on the stone holder. The finish under the spring loaded adjustable holder has become soft which makes loading stones harder then it should be because the col...

Re: Deep carry pocket clips

I’m all for a factory deep carry option but the topic seems to trigger non deep carry people pretty hard. So unless Sal himself is taking a poll of support, I’ll leave it alone Yikes. I've been summarily put in my place. Don't take it personally. There's a cult like portion of the membership here t...

Re: Deep carry pocket clips

It’s true. I’m in Australia and the last titanium deep carry clip I bought for my native was 60 odd AUD delivered :/ Thats around 1/2 the price of a new Endura. I only bought it because I wouldn’t carry a bright orange Native without a deep carry clip.

Re: Which Spyderco fits you?

Native 5 is probably the closest to perfect but if I’m honest I haven’t found the perfect fit yet, which will keep me buying more until I find one that is. I have a few knives that are close to perfect in every way but there is always some aspect of it that keeps it from being ‘the one’. Great ergos...

Re: What were the biggest changes to your EDC habits in 2018?

The biggest change to my edc habits have been -carrying larger folders than previous years. I appreciate the utility of a +3.5” blade. -I only bought one flipper in 2018 and it may be my last. I live near the beach and despite being vigilant about sand in my pockets, carrying tip down, my pivots alw...

Re: Massdrop R. Laconico Keen

Putting the Chinese manufacturing factor aside, it’s the type of knife that makes you look at other knives at twice the price and question why? You can't ask that question while putting aside country of origin. $150 seems like a lot for a Chinese Ti knife. I can get a Ti Cara Cara well below half o...

Re: What's the lowest edge retention steel you'd carry?

VG10.

Anything else I carry regularly is north of VG10 in terms of edge retention.

I’ll occasionally ‘slum’ it with a lesser steel if i’m doing something with the knife I know will cause edge damage so I don’t have to spend too long repairing the edge

Re: What do you carry on new years eve? And a happy 2019 to everyone!

I also went with the knife I received for Christmas, SS SE Endura. I didn’t do much cutting with it but the SS handle made a good tool for cracking mud crab claws and cleanup was a breeze.

Happy New Year

Re: Kydex Sheath Links?

I was gifted a Landi PSK with a Kydex sheath. The problem is that the sheath is pretty terrible (the knife has some major issues too, but that's another story). Any recommendations on a good Kydex sheath maker? I'm wanting to wear it horizontal or in pocket. I considered making my own but am honest...
