A better bet would be to send it to the factory for a professional, like new going over. Joe

The Millies are one of the few production knives that I really like everything about. I still want the D2 sprint if for no reason than it should sharpen easier, and be less likely to chip. Whatever it is Rc'd at will be appropriate, that's the good thing about spyderco. Good luck with your wifes sur...

Gunmike, do you have an RC number for your CPM'ed millie? I was expecting it to RC around 62/63 and able to outcut any conventionally hardened D2, as 62 is about as hard as D2 gets without pushing it, or even is kind of pushing it. Dozier only runs his at 60.5 and he is pretty well respected for the...

Vincent, if it's happening with different brands, and different steels what does that tell you? Because a knife is expensive doesn't mean the tip is able to handle prying, twisting, or applying lateral forces on it. All knives come with warnings about prying now. I've never broken a tip in 38 years ...

References to "CPM D2" or "CPM 154 CM" are misguided, however, as neither of these steels is produced using particle metallurgy. CPM154cm is a regular part of the product line for CPM. It is pretty well regarded in comparison to the regular, non CPM'ed 154cm. You can probably do...

Sure Bolster, It was a Ka Bar piece with plastic handles. It has been dropped from the line. It worked ok as a knife, it just had a different feeling from the ATS 34 I am more used to. I still have the knife.....somewhere. As far as ATS 34/55 here is what I read years ago. The ATS34 and cm154 have 4...

I've read the same story as Bolster relayed above. I don't have any problem sharpening ATS 34, though I have run across knives made of it that seemed almost gummy as I sharpened it. I don't know why. It still sharpened, though I was using DMT's. I've gotten some incredible edges with ATS34. Edge hol...

What is the reason for the stabbed gang member for hiding his wounds? When we saw that kind of behavior it was typically the guys own gang that did the stabbing for whatever reason. If the guy knew he wouldn't die he'd take the discipline and move on, making it clear he isn't a snitch. It also coul...

Hi Mastiff, 1954-1956 under Col. Edson Rice. Were you there also? Thanks.
That was before my time, though I had the pleasure of spending some time in Bad Tolz. I've got a cousin who's still in with 34 years. From 75th rangers to 3rd group, all SF. He's an amazing guy.

Welcome to our forum. Joe

I was going to say the Buck 880 Tanto, larger sized blade, both have dual Ti liners and a very thick blade.

The other knife I would reccomend is the Jerry Hossum Ontario retribution ( the 1 is larger than the 2 IIRC). It's the biggest folding knife I've ever seen. It makes the manix look small. Joe

420j2 is used for frames and steel scales more often than blades nowadays. People have come to expect something better, but then happily buy 420HC, AUS4, etc. The best way to do it is to try it out. If you like it, and it suits you then it's a keeper. The thing that makes me nervous is when it's a f...

I sure need to make myself usefull to the Spyderco crew as they have been most generous lately. Hmmmm. What am I good at? collecting money, breaking legs, fingers & stuff like that. Probably not useful to a company with the integrity of spyderco. Run a garden organicly in the worst clay imaginea...

Sal, I was wondering about differences/similarities between ZDP and Cowery Y ( I believe that's the one that internet legend has being a near copy of ZDP.
