Re: The Home Slice - H2 Serrated Death Rope Cut Test
Just a little more anecdotal H2 experience to add here. I've had my Tasman Salt Yellow SE in H2 for a couple of weeks now. It's been chewing successfully on heavy cardboard, poly rope and small green limbs so far and I can't really tell any difference between it and H1. Like Gregg Allman said, "...

I thought I heard that future ZDP-189 releases would be laminates?

Agreed! Past Spyderco goodness never really fades away. I have, and continue to use, both steels in multiple models.

In a perfect world DLT would commission a run of OD DLC Cru-wear.

Magnacut Salt SE or Cru-wear LW PE would both be instant buys for me. I have the PE & SE in VG-10 and enjoy them both immensely. My Enduras are getting jealous...

Local Costco had a tub of Grillo's that snuck in to my basket today. First time I've seen them there. Looking forward to trying them.

Re: RIT dyeing Salts
Yeah, that was a concern. I just wasn't sure if the dye would penetrate completely without disassembly.

RIT dyeing Salts
I'm thinking about RIT dyeing a couple of yellow Salts for the first time. For those of you who have already done this, do you dip the fully assembled knife in the dye, or do you disassemble and then dip just the FRN? Is disassembly even necessary for Salts?

Re: Interest in a Spyderhawk 2?
Magnacut with teeth cuts very well indeed. My Native Salt has impressed me so far with its edge-holding and sharpenability (not sure that's a real word but it oughta be). Those deep scallops have been a real beaver on heavy cardboard, rope, and small green limbs. I'd love to see what a hawkbill Magn...

Orange Rescue 79mm SE in VG-10 to keep in my driver side door (JIC). Hope to never need it for that but it will also be a handy backup.

My arc follows yours pretty closely NCC, but I haven't yet sprung for it in K390. I feel like I've got enough K390 for now, but I love the Jumper platform and hope we see a Salt or a Cru-wear sprint soon.

Re: Experience with Spyderco's CBN benchstone?
Yeah, you need to build some muscle memory on a couple of beaters. Remember the trinity: light pressure, sharpie, jeweler's loupe. Also doesn't hurt to check yourself on the Sharmaker's known angles if you have one.

Re: Manbug Leaf
I picked one up in SE last week. Maybe the sharpest OOTB SE I've experienced yet. I also have the Manbug Wharny SE. The Wharny is a little taller when closed, with even better access to the Spydie hole. But I'm digging the extra belly on the Leaf and I hope we will eventually see additional versions.

If you're worried about whether the Sharpmaker triangle rods will "fit" your blade's serrations, then you're using it the wrong way.
