Well, I LOVE the scales and grip orientation, but the blade doesn't do anything for me. Now, say you put a hawkbill blade in that handle... THEN you'll have me drooling on my shoes!

Well, tomorrow I'm going to get my order in for the Tasman series. One of each (of course) for the collection, and maybe a couple of the yellow FRN's PE & SE for carry. It blows me away how much this blade has picked up dedicated fans. Does my heart proud. Some have been beating the drum about t...

Yes, I too would go for such a sprint run (but then, what HB blade wouldn't I buy from Spydie-ville?)...

I'm so predictable that way

Well heck yeah, that's a nice find! My PE isn't marked with blade steel, but the next bunch should have been marked G-2. I noticed the spring visible in the vent, which is correct for that vintage. In regard to the PE Harpy having been made with VG-10 blade, no and yes. The PE Harpy was discontinued...

"...perhaps this will be the year of the hawkbill...." Ohhh yeah. I like that.

Dragonfly hawkbill (VG-10 or better) with G-10 or Micarta scales with enough "dimension" to the scale material to give the knife some "feel" (like the Native III or something similar).

I'm happy to see that Sal is willing to do another Forum knife...I also recall a really pretty blue G-10 Native forum knife made for the "other" forum years ago. It was a great knife, and really talked-up by the forumites (who then didn't fully support the project by actually BUYING one). ...

I think my oldest might be the PE Harpy in my collection. The RAREST would probably be the early-production Civilian without Tuffram coating on the aluminum scales. Small run of these before the Tuffram was applied to reduce scratching of surface.

Nice score, indeed. Been carrying a D'Allara at work as my emergency knife for a year or so, and I just took a road-trip out west & back with the same knife as my EDC. This thing is a tank, and will do whatever I need a knife to do (and can be "tactical" without being so-labelled).

I'm leaving for CO (Denver) next week. Will the SFO be moved by then to Golden, or still in Wheat Ridge (been there once for their grand opening years ago)?. Found my answer in another thread..."SFO is scheduled to move at the end of June. It should be reopened here around June 27th. We'll conf...

"I can't for the life of me figure out why the G-10 Police or G-10 Harpy too as far as that goes didn't take off like a pair of rockets on the sales charts." Speaking for the G-10 Harpy, cost was beyond what most knife buyers wanted to spend (Spyderco was way ahead of the curve in regard t...

Sea Hawk was a name used for a now D/C hawkbill by CRKT a couple years ago. If that isn't a problem, then I say "Go for it".

Sea Salt also has some rather obvious ties to this Spydie design, so I guess either makes sense...

I've been known to pack a Harpy more than occasionally. Currently I am totinig a Spyderhawk and a slipjoint PE hawkbill (with really nice stag scales). I have to add my "me too" regarding zackerty's design. I really like it and would carry this sort of design made by Spydie, no question. The MOD knife appears an attempt on their part to capture some of the Microtech Hawk tactical-fanfare. For my part, give me a curved blade which shows le...

I pulled out my copy of The Spyderco Story, went to pages 206, 207 & 208 to find reference to the SpydeRench. Full detail of specs, photo in different configurations and short listing of it's features.

If you don't already have the book, you should (as a Spydie collector) acquire it soon.
