Beautiful collection Tristian, especially the Model 14.

Personally, I think it'd make a great collab with :spyder: . Anyone else think so?

Sometime after Christmas the awesome and inevitable results of my dark green journey will be posted on the forum for all to see; at least until those dark green G-10 haters that run this forum shut down my thread in a vain effort to suppress the truth. Shut down? Unless I'm greatly mistaken, your t...

Very nice collection Doc! Personally, I'm not so much carrying around a dedicated kubotan, just a torch and a pen like Wouter.

Tacking on to my method of doing it, the thing I like about it is that I've got control from the moment it starts. http://i411.photobucket.com/albums/pp191/Th232/Knives/CompressionLockClosing.jpg Admittedly my fingers can get in the way, as in the bottom left, but I consider the amount of control I ...

I haven't operated a compression lock but for a right-handed person it seems based on the pictures that a liner lock is easier to close 1-handed. Not to say the compression lock can't be done but the handling is more awkward. There isn't a lock style I can close quicker 1handed than a liner lock if...

True, machine shops cut stuff precisely all day long. The big difference is that factories != machine shops. I've seen both, and there's a huge difference between the two in almost all aspects other than the fact that they make stuff. Have you seen the rates machine shops charge? Upwards of $100/hr ...

If anyone can get the collection of short stories by J.L. Borges titled "Labyrinths", it's a good read. Some call him the greatest writer to never win a Nobel prize, and I'm inclined to agree. For a whole lot of everything I'd vote for Godel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid by Dougla...

The precision is precisely the point I'm making, to quote you: As far as computers and machines making near perfect parts that fit together look at look at any good quality mechanical device made of metal that's parts are made to a specific specification in order for the machine to work properly. Have you seen the processes that go into making an engine that works well? Every process has tolerances, it actually is that hard to make things that fit together that well. Just curious, do you have any manufacturing background at all? With your engine reference, apart from not understanding all th...

Not to mention, various steels are only available in certain countries, I believe it's extremely hard to source any significant amount of VG-10 and ZDP-189 stock outside of Japan.
