Re: New 30-30 in the house!! ;)

Like my Marlins. Still have the .22 semi-auto I bought for squirrel hunting in 1969. Can't remember exactly but when silver was high, I think 1974 sold some and bought a 336 in 30-30 still have it, $169 on sale. Used to deer hunt with it, have shot it little but the last time sighting it in at 100 y...

Re: Why don't you have more spyderco fixed blades?

I do have a bunch'o Spydie fixed blades. Between the kitchen knives, mules, H1's, Phil Wilson's, and others, the count adds up. Really liking the Waterway, great design and steel. When moving into the higher end knives, there are a lot of nice custom fixed blades out there vying for the $$. The Prov...

Re: Of all your Spyderco knives, which gives the best, smoothest cut?

In small blades the K09 does it for me. I've sliced, diced, and filleted many gallons of fruit with mine....a scalpel. In larger blades, the Chokwe, or JD Smith both give smooooooth cuts, as does the ZDP Stretch when really sharp. Very cool. Do you notice that different fruits give different resist...

Re: Looking at a Caly

Love the Caly's, the 3.5 has been my main carry for the past 3 or 4 years. I have several of the variants but the cf/zdp 3.5 gets the most carry time. The cf is easy on the pockets, the clad scratches pretty easily and the knife will rust quicker than the vg10 but it always ends up in my pocket. The...

Re: Where is my Bow River ?

All these comparison pics are really making me sad I missed the South Fork! I'm hoping the success of this Bow River will prompt a new series of similar designs in all different sizes - these strike me as incredibly practical blades for everything from the kitchen to the trail. I'm definitely plann...

Re: Where is my Bow River ?

Received my Bow's last week had one out for a bit but didn't have time to mess with it. Today I took them out for a nice fluff and buff. Flitzed and sharpened all of the knives (4) three of which will be gifted. The knives all came sharp and polished up nicely. Another great design by Phil. Well exe...

Re: Do you immediately sharpen a new Spyderco?

Depends on the knife for me. I'll often hit a few passes on the Sharpmaker just for fun. Most have come sharp enough for edc. I agree with Bloke on a couple counts. My Southfork's and Sprig's were both reprofiled (Southfork's really needed it) They cut noticeably better and are easier to maintain. I...

Re: Fish: What's Everyone's Favorite? Salt or Fresh Water?

I fish all the time in Florida (years ago commercial fished offshore). Inshore for me it's hard to beat flounder or a nice whiting caught in the surf. Both are very tasty. I often bake flounder fillets with crab stuffing. mm mmm good. Catch and fillet a LOT of specks (crappie). Fried speck fillets d...

Re: You can run any model you want in LC200N. Which do you choose?

I'm loving the LC, hoping we see it in many more of the models. The lightweight Caly 3.5 or police model would do it for me. If there was a lightweight Millie version that would also work. While we're at it, a pe Catcherman would also be nice.

Re: Micro Bevel Matter?

I gotten to where I don't often use a micro bevel. Pretty much gone to the straight 30 degree inclusive and stopping around 400 to 600 grit. There are exceptions with some knives, but this keeps sharpening and maintenance simple. All my knives are kept sharp.

Has it been determined what steel will be used in the 3.5 lightweight? Would love to see the LC.

Re: If you could only have TWO Spyders...?

I think I'd go with my Stretch in peelply cf and zdp189, and something significantly smaller and lighter like a FRN Dragonfly. I remember when KSF had the CF Stretch's, agree a great knife. For a long time the Sprig and Caly 3.5 would have been my choices. The Waterway has dethroned the Sprig (both...

Love the handle on the Aqua Salt. A thin, ffg blade would be enticing.... however Bloke already said it.

Re: Would anyone else have interest in a Spyderco fillet knife?

I've been hoping for a dedicated fillet knife from Spyderco for years. 6 1/2 to 7 inch blade with thin stock and not too much flex. Would buy several for gifts if lines and blade geometry were right. One of Phil's designs would definitely work for me. Bring it on.

Re: Translucent Venom Green LC200N Manix Salt?

If the Manix was a back lock variety I would buy it. Not sure how the internals on a "salt" variety Manix would hold up around saltwater. Rather see a Police or Millie with LC. Toxic green would be great.

Re: What is your favorite fruit?

Hard to say which is a "favorite." I have many varieties of citrus in the yard. Page orange. ponkan, and a fully tree ripe temple are all excellent. Hard to choose between those. Tree ripened mango's are also a favorite. Like peaches good ones are not often found in the store. So many vari...

Ikuchi, before this would have been some version of the Sage. Have other non-Spydies on the list but didn't include those.
