Frankly, I'd rather have shoddy, or extremely limited security screening at theme parks unless there is an ongoing gang problem.
Post 9/11 rules prohibiting knives and scissors are asinine unless you think you can hijack a roller coaster.

Tom, No problems in California possessing pepper spray, or normal Spyderco-type folders. The state does not restrict blade length (except at schools and such), but some towns do. If your worried about it stick to the Delica, but I wouldn't expect a typical tourist to run into problems carrying an En...

The main difference between the gunting and any other knife, is that the gunting was purpose built to be used as both a knife and a less-than-lethal weapon. For more info on the use of the gunting I suggest visiting these two sites affiliated with Bram Frank, the knife's designer. http://cssdsc.com/...

Thanks for the link. Fortunately the law in California has actually been changed since the time of that case to make clear that mere posession of a closed folding lock blade with a thumb hole is not a crime under state law. http://pweb.netcom.com/~brlevine/ca.txt Best regards, Argyll Qui non est hod...

Those who wish to engage in frequent off topic discussions should post at one of the many other forums set up for such purposes. There is no reason to continually subject the Spyderco forum to such discourse. Best regards, Argyll Qui non est hodie cras minus aptus erit -- Ovid (He who is not prepare...

The problem with trying to understand the law, especially as it pertains to weapons including knives, is that the language of the statutes don't tell the whole story. For example there is no statute in California which refers to butterfly knives by name, they have however been found by a court of ap...

I looked into buying one. Was not impressed, seemed clunky. But things like that are very much a matter of personal preference. There's no substitute for handling one and seeing if it works for you. Hi Mike, Please don't interpret the lack of response to your columns as lack of interest. I thought they were one of the most valuable parts of this forum. I suspect that others, like myself, just don't feel qualified to add anything to your expert observations. You can be assured that if you write ...
