Re: Chief vs Stretch XL for fishing knife?

.... So anyway, what are you guys’ thoughts? Specifically on the Stretch XL vs Chief as an outdoors /fishing knife , but also more generally on how you value design vs steel and which is more important to you. Hey Lance, I am not a fisherman, but what I use a general outdoors folder for, the Chief ...

Re: Endela (-sized "middle ground" knife) in the "Pac Salt family"?!

It would also be great if an Endela Salt's blade shape is kept exactly the same as the regular Endela's; meaning, the tip is NOT made any more rounded in the same way that the tips on the Salt 1 & 2, and the Pac Salt were changed and sheepsfooted from the Delica's and the Endura's original tip ...

Re: Sage series collection - What's the next Sage?

... Yes, I own a lot of Manix 2s and love them in use, but for me, they're not fun to carry in pocket. It´s funny how different folks are concerning what they find to be a "nice" carry - for some, like obviously you too, width in pocket matters a lot. And I figure Sage and Manix are prett...

Re: Has there ever been a LW Wharncliffe Lil' Native?

Check out the discontinued Byrd Robin Wharncliffe as well. If I didn't have a Lil Native Wharncliffe I'd probably have one of those. Didn't really like the Wharncliffe Dragonfly, the taller blade ruins the superb DFly looks IMO. Thanks for the suggestion, did not know that the Robin can be had as a...

... I haven't spoken with Eric on what plans he might have for an Endela Salt, so I don't know his leanings. I'll prod his brain? ... This would be great... I so hope Eric will consider an Endela Salt (linerless)! (And perhaps give it an a bit longer blade than the VG10 Endela, just like the Salt 2...

Re: Has there ever been a LW Wharncliffe Lil' Native?

A Lil Native LW wharnie could actually be a real challenger for the wharnie DFly I am thinking about getting one periodically. I could never warm up to the "regular" Lil Native, going by its specs alone: Blade much too thick for my liking and heavy weight for the size. The LW though with i...

Re: Should I buy a Sage 5 lw or Paramilitary 2 as my first Spyderco?

ImperialStarDestroyer , I really think it comes down to which size you prefer: Blade in the 3" (Sage) or the 3.5" range (PM2), and then of course with the related different handle sizes/lengthes (and overall package sizes in pocket). No one can really "help" you here, very subje...

Re: Sage series collection - What's the next Sage?

I could live without the pinky hook, too--although I don't mind it. The Manix almost has a "subhilt" between the index and the middle fingers, which IMO gives plenty of no-slip grip without the additional slip-protection of a pinky hook. But there'd be additional complications of needing ...

Re: Sage series collection - What's the next Sage?

People want a rerun of the knife likely to use the knife not collect the knife. I personally think there’s more value to having your knives used than keeping a model back due to perceived loss of value that a knife collector might feel. To hold a model back because some collector will take a $75 lo...

Re: Sage series collection - What's the next Sage?

I'm not sure if pinky hook is the defining feature of Manix 2. It is not a factor in the way I hold the knife. I enjoy both Manix 2 and Sage 5 handles. Either works for me, but I prefer Manix 2 mostly for the closed back. I assume Sage with CBBL would also have closed back. Closed back Sage handle ...

Re: Sage series collection - What's the next Sage?

Count me in the minority, but I'd rather wish the management team make the long-requested Para-3 sized Manix instead of a CBBL Sage... I would also prefer that. I don´t know folks, let me explain: - Imo a "Para 3 sized" smaller Manix would absolutely have to get rid of the Manix 2 pinky h...

I am looking to buy a Spyderco, and I like the Sage 5 lw and the Paramilitary 2 the most. Which one do you think is better in terms of ergonomics, carry ability etc? I can only choose one of these two. Welcome! You should better post this question in the "General Discussion" forum, not he...

The Urban has a 2.5" blade. The UKPK has a 3" blade. The Chaparral has a 2.75" blade. It fits. No doubt it fits! Blade length is just one of several aspects here. Said it above already: Thinner blade stock [EDIT: just looked it up: I was wrong! Same thin stock!], better blade to hand...

I have a Paramilitary 2 that I have had for a few years. I am considering buying a new Paramilitary 2 or maybe a Para 3, but I would like something cooler than average. Re: Lil' Temp 3 & Short Thick Blades

They entire Military line is a bit odd in that they have a very thick blade stock (0.145" or 3.7mm for all of them), but taper to a pretty fine point. I guess it is just a unique design feature. It is more apparent in person, but the Para 3 has a fairly stout tip compared to the others in the ...

We probably won't do anything with the "Cross-bar" Lock, as it seems to be very popular with a large number of Makers. It’s not a bad lock but I think CBB is better by far. Cross bar springs always strike me as a failure point waiting to happen. ... I think for the underlying idea of disp...

Re: Lil' Temp 3 & Short Thick Blades

I have often looked at this model to compete with my two current favorites for house remodeling which are the Manix 2 and the Para 3. The Para 3 actually has a pretty stout tip compared to a lot of its counterparts. This is a surprising statement to me Jeff, but of course it has weight to it due to...
