I don't regret my DF2 G10 either...but I didn't pay MSRP for it either (few do I bet). Still I paid $86 which wasn't cheap & was about twice the price of the FRN VG-10 version. No regrets...great lil knife!

Not really an FRN fan either. Have just a few of them (no Delica) but by far not my fav. I know that it is durable and light and from a functional perspective there is no reason to dislike it... I just generally don't like how it feels in my hand (ie, it feels cheap). I have a Byrd Hawkbill coming m...

The Gray G10 Caly 3 Super Blue, the Brown Calypso and the Starmate all look pretty awesome to me. Doubt I will be getting any of them anytime soon though... have pretty much blown my knife budget big time for quite a while since falling (admittedly belatedly) for the Para Military2 this year.

Thanks for all the help gentlemen... I will start with the SM and see where I go from there. I am sure compared to my current method I will feel like sharpening Superman with the SM! :)

Thanks again.

Opinion on strops

I am getting a Sharpmaker for Christmas (not really a surprise, but sometimes you just gotta be obvious with your wife so she gets you what you want! :D ). So my question is... do I need a strop as well? I am moving up in my knife-sharpening methodology by going to the Sharpmaker (I currently just u...

I know the conventional wisdom is the Caly, but I am not a huge fan of CF (I just prefer good old fashioned G10). That Starmate speaks to me... wish it was a bit less expensive. Seems like a sweet knife... so I voted Starmate. Let us know what you end up with... all three choices sound excellent (an...

My only Byrd is a SE Hawkbill, bought to carry as a backup knife to whatever else I'm carrying. I'm thinking about getting a SE Robin to try as well. (edited to substitute a more appropriate photo :) http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a370/bjd70/Knives/DSC_7547b.jpg My wife is getting me a Byrd Hawk...

Could anyone tell me where I can purchase online (I live in France) a wallet like this ? I really would like to replace the one that a very good friend offered to me 20 years ago after he came back of a 1 year journey in USA. The plastic cards holder is dead since ten years (I removed it) and the l...

I prefer the lightweight ripstops. I have one pair of the heavyweight (I think 12oz), but really don't like them as much. The pocket design is the same, etc, but they do feel heavier. The ripstops are way better. Love these pants! :)

elena86, I would say that your original instinct was/is probably best... the Native5 would seem to fit the bill of what you are wanting. The thing is, being the best "all around" anything doesn't mean it's the best in all the individual given attributes under scrutiny... it means that it's...

Thanks! And thank goodness for work-friendly Woolrich Elite tactical pants! :D

Lots of pockets, but don't look overtly tactical (kind of like a cross between cargo pants & Dockers).

Best tac-pants on the market as far as I am concerned. :)

Hi Sal, I am a relative newbie here and a fairly recent convert in general to Sypderco knives, but now that I have converted I am HOOKED! :) And the first Spyderco I ever bought was a Resilience. I have never EDC'd it if you count EDCing as actually having it on my person, but it does ride in my day...

I typically carry 3 blades on my person (one of which is a Leatherman--which I really carry for the tools not the knife). Admittedly it's not necessarily because I *need* more than 1 at any given time...it's really just because I have more than 1 knife that I like & I like to pair a small with a...
