Re: S110V rolling?

I also had some rolling on about a third of the factory edge, I cleaned up what I suspect was a burr on the brown stones and it's been fine since. I have got a few little catches in the edge (micro chips?) ie when I run on my fingernail down the edge and when tested on paper it catches, they don't b...

Re: Crazy deals @ Sierra and other places

Well, I sent the Caly 3.5, I purchased from Amazon, to Customer Service a couple of weeks ago due to some weird scuffing forming. I hadn't heard anything, so I emailed them yesterday. After a bit of back and forth, they found my repair and tried to call me. While I missed the call, the voicemail wa...

Re: Waves

Waves on the Salt series would be a nice option and quite appropriate when you think about it....It would be handy when your hands are coved in fish slime to have the option of your blade opening straight from your pocket.

Re: Internet/mail order knife sales to be banned!

I'd like to keep knives bought fraudulently, by angry kids online, off the streets and our schools too but surely there is a better way? Unfortunately when you have a combination of anonymous online purchasing, credit card fraud, terrorism and increasing fatal crime in schooling, this is some of the...

Re: How have you preferences changed over the years?

I'm more willing to carry heavier knives than before but still prefer them to be a thinner profile. I'm not chasing super steels anymore and am quite happy to have easier sharpening and steels that hold their razor edge longer than long lasting, toothy working edges. So fine grain, tougher steels a...

Re: Ti Military pivot spinning help

It appears to be fine to me. Maybe the red loctite held well enough to allow you to strip out the D pivot hole? You could try getting it on a hard protective surface, put in your torx bit and give it a sharp hit with a hammer. Hopefully you can then remove the pivot screw using grippy rubber on the ...

Re: New Spyderco knife concept: Resolute?

Perhaps 4mm LC200N for the ultimate beach/boat camping or survival tool. Using the Serrata platform as you've already spent the money on tooling and it looks like a great allrounder, you'd have a rustproof slicer that would work great for food prep, general chores and with the toughness of LC200N yo...

Re: New Spyderco knife concept: Resolute?

So I guess the next question is; what would be the preferred steel? sal I like the idea of a tough, well rounded stainless over an uber expensive, ultra edge holder that needs to be babied in a fixed blade. If I have understood correctly Elmax could fill that role, I'd say XHP as it's a favourite b...

Re: Change in Sharpmaker packaged stones

I feel like average joes probably buy this thing and try to tackle what we would call extremely dull edges with it and that is futile without a coarser stone. People come to this forum often with issues with the sharpmaker and the issue is often that their knives are just too dull to reprofile on t...

For the way I sharpen these days, I get the most satisfying performance from Elmax and XHP, so I'd be happy for more!

Re: New Spyderco knife concept: Resolute?

I've had toughts of a Serrata, full flat stock removal S90V. It woud be pricy like the S90V Proficient, but a hellova knife! sal Whilst that would be an awesome knife, you've already got the Proficient, Southfork and the Sprig in the S90V, FFG configuration. I can't help but think that something mo...

I'd give AEB-L a go, I really like Sandvik steels so AEB-L with a great heat treat would be very interesting.

Re: Stainless steel that behaves like a carbon steel

I was thinking XHP and Elmax but that is with the way I now sharpen. If I was still going through both the ceramic stones I would probably say 12C27 or VG10.

Re: New Spyderco knife concept: Resolute?

I really like the Serrata design but was not drawn to the extra weight from the thick cast steel or the whole toothy 440c thing. So a Serrata in Elmax, for a nice balance of stainless, toughness and edge retention, would be great but it wouldn't really be a Serrata.... I guess a Vergratas in Elmax w...

Re: Petition: make all PE Salts in LC200N

Depending on price, I think Pacific Salt's and a Salt 1's with FFG LC200N, in assorted colours, could have the potential to replace standard Endura's and Delica's....

I ordered them from Spyderco customer service, they were very helpful.

A pic of the knives with the Dodo clip for those not familiar.

Re: Delica 4 vs. The World. Ch. 2: Sage 5

I've brought up this issue with the UKPK version of the wire clip on certain knives, the bend just digs into the meat of your hand when used in a firm grip. I ended up buying a few Dodo clips and mounted them on a Slysz Bowie, Techno and the Chaparral and they went from never carries to near perfect...
