Re: A plea to Spyderco:

I think the public's desire for overbuilt hard use folders is fading I think people have this perception because social media and forums are overwhelmed with the connoisseurs who want the thin edges. The people who want hard use knives simply go out and do their job, beat on their knife/tools, then...

Re: Bow river ??

A hunting/camp knife seems like a strange application for serrations. Maybe that is just my bias though. I hate serrations. I think a partially serrated knife is the perfect hunting knife, especially when it comes to quick and dirty butchering of some animals in the field or at camp. For example, t...

I'd rather have the CPM-3V make an appearance in some different models. I'm into the LW models for the summer, so throw some into the Manix LW and Para 3 LW and I'll be all over it!

3V on a lightweight?

Re: New M390 Bento Box Shop Exclusive

Is it because they charge $14.00 for shipping for up to 2 knives or they do not accept returns just because someone gets buyers remorse and believes the whole world should operate like Walmart? Or maybe it's because of shady situations like in 2014, when they got a sprint of Elmax PM2. If you wante...

Re: Spydercos best "bang-for-the-buck" - knife?!

I think the Bow River will be the best bang-for-the-buck. $32.50 for a Phil Wilson design, full tang, G-10 scales, and a leather sheath. Hard to beat that.

Re: Spydercos best "bang-for-the-buck" - knife?!

So from a financial standpoint: Why DO dealers sell discontinued models for a low price? I mean, they could charge the regular or even higher prices. Since people KNOW that these models will no longer be available eventually they would probably pay rather more than less.. ? I might be wrong here, b...

Strange since Para2 exclusives usually sell out in minutes.
I'd guess the $270 price has something to do with it.

I don't understand what is causing you pain...
Some people here view Sprints as investments that should be kept in a safe instead of used as tools.

Re: Defective Native 5 Salt? First Spyderco (+Beauty Shot)

the top of the plunge grind is shaved off. The top of the plunge grind is smooth so there's no sharp 90 degree corner along the edge of the hole where your finger will roll across it to open the knife. It's intentional. It may not look uniform, but it's the best for pain-free and smooth operation.

What scale treatment is being discussed here? From Sal... "I designed the handle with less pronounced "finger placement" due to the complaints that I'd received about the Endura by some that it didn't fit, and I wanted to avoid that issue. There is still enough to avoid the "rol...

Re: Closing one handed: Faster with a backlock than with a compression lock.

On the other hand... 1/10th of a second multiplied by 5 times a day on average = 1/2 a second. Multiplied by 365 days = about 180 seconds. So.... I could spend 3 more minutes on the Spyderco forum annually if I carried a backlock. This is life changing

Re: Closing one handed: Faster with a backlock than with a compression lock.

Realistically, people aren't in so much of a rush to close a knife that they care about 1/10th of a second. However, there can definitely be times when deploying the knife faster is beneficial. And in those cases I think the compression lock reliably beats a backlock. Not all backlocks can be easily...

After hearing Eric himself say it would be out by May, it would be nice to get some kind of update or explanation. Is it being pushed back 1 month? 2 months? Next year?

Re: Least liked thing about a favored Spydie

I'd like if the Lil Temp 3 was able to drop shut like a PM2 (or other Golden compression locks). Has anyone with a Lil Temp 3 been able to do it without significant blade play? I haven't seen it done. Seems to just be how Seki City makes the compression lock. It's definitely smooth, but you need a s...

Re: Least liked thing about your best Spydie(s)

I love my Caribbean, but I hate reaching for the choil that isn’t there. I don't understand this. The finger guard is right up against the edge of the blade and your finger is just as close as any finger choil could possibly be on those models. I assume it's just habit? Now it kind of makes s...
