Ira, do you ever plan on selling it in the future when the value goes up? If not, then for Sal's sake, use it man!

Every time you pull it from your pocket to cut something you'll enjoy it. If it sits in the safe, or where ever, you'll only see it infrequently.

Rotate wrist downwards and push the knife and hand downwards with force and then quickly reverse the direction by snapping the wrist upwards with an abrupt stop and the blade should swi...

Doc, I do agree about that gross motor skill thing. But, if you inertia open, don't you have to find the hole with a thumb and forefinger and pinch? Isn't that a fine motor skill (finger tip to finger tip)? Or do you pinch-grab the blade and intertia drop?

Think the main reason was that knives with an uncaged ball are difficult to unlock with gloved, cold, wet, or otherwise "tactile sensitivity challenged" fingers. That makes sense. I tried a Manix2 and was unable to release the lock with one hand like I could with my D'allara. I only tried...

FRN is also my fav handle material. Got a great texture and is durable. There is still a lot of the "plastic is crap" sentimentality going on, I see it in the firearms world as well. But I think the material has been around long enough now in all the varied forms that it's proven itself ca...

I picked gray. Remove the black from the pocket clip and the knife becomes less visible clipped to the pocket of jeans and other light clothes.

Just playing devil's advocate, if you carry tip up (isn't the folder he's carrying tip up?) wouldn't it be more positive to do the usual thumb opening rather than only having 2 fingers on your knife during the spydie drop? If it's tip down I understand as even the thumb opening starts off with only ...

Less leverage on the front of the blade perhaps makes it harder to cut through? Don't know but a pic of the problem on the edge might help. As far as the Endura goes, yeah it's off obviously. Your knife collecting future will be far less stressful if you begin to tell the diff between now between a ...

Got my first spydie in '89 or '90, a SE Endura out of the luscious Cutlery Shoppe catalogs that they used to mail out. My mom had to order it for me. Gave it to a friend in 94 or so. Never really used it since it was too big for me.

Around the house, no b/c I have plenty of better tools. Out and about I have a keychain Leatherman S4 Squirt for the scissors and screwdrivers (saves my Delica's tip) and access to a Supertool 300.

Heck, Cutlery Shoppe is what got me into Spydies 18 years ago with those luscious catalogs of theirs. Bought my first Spydie from them in 1990, a fully serrated Endura. It was their catalog's picture of the C15GPS that had me trembling for weeks trying to decide whether or not to buy it. Whenever I'...

I missed out on the forum model but am anxiously awaiting the FRN Native IV. I hope it's not that much heavier if they go to the liners+FRN and that the handle profile is the same as the carbon fiber model. The second bump in the handle on the FRN Native is the worst part of it and I ground mine dow...

Hopefully this will be my first forum knife as well. My current EDC is a walmart native that I bought last year and I rounded off the second hump like the Native 4 handle. Really like the purple color and flat ground blade that I saw in the thread pics.

It doesn't take long at all with a Dremel to get that sucker 'pointier'! I much prefer the handle on the D4 over the D3 so am willing to take 5 minutes to modify the tip.

Krein uses the belt sander as mentioned above. He holds the blade with his hand/fingers - that way he stops before his hand gets burned which should be long before the temperature of the steel gets high enough to change the temper. I have a Krein Endura. Let me tell you, the .2oz of steel removed on...

That's interesting. I got a D4 FRN a year or so ago, new from a well known online store, that was configured that way too. I changed it of course.
