Re: pain to sharpen SE blades?
When you get to finishing your SE blade be mindful of pressure. You want to use just the weight of the knife, very light pressure. Another thing is frequently clean the rods. They cut much better when clean. Like anything the more you practice it the better you will become. Find some old steak knive...

Re: Suggestion for changing Spyderco budget knife steel 8Cr13Mov
I have used Spydercos 8cr knives for quite a few years and if you actually use and know how to sharpen it is a great steel for work. There is no reason for Spyderco to upgrade these models. Spyderco has an abundance of similar models in more expensive steels. The budget line fills its category very ...

Re: Cutlery Shoppe s90v manix lw
I will probably just put it away and it will be a backup for the satin blade version that I carry in s90v.
Cutlery Shoppe really has been doing a great job with sprints lately.

Only speculating but I have a feeling someone at St Nicks is sitting on a bunch of these now and they will now let them go to the highest bidder.

Re: REX 45 and other "rustprone" toolsteels: Corrosion and by that dulling on the very apex - is it an issue in regular
I haven’t experienced any dulling of the apex of any of my knives in Rex45 or Hap40.
This could be because I usually go to a pretty fine stone (5-6k) and strop them fairly regularly.
I think some of the waxy stropping compounds may offer some corrosion resistance also.

Re: POLL - Manix 2 ffg SE anyone?
I would love to see a full serrated Manix2 lightweight.
The Manix2 is one of the best designs IMO and having a one with a full Spydie-edge would be great.
I mostly carry plain edges but I do like serrated blades.
Just about everything new I like design wise comes with a plain blade.

Even though my Native 5 in Rex45 is my current darling my old Delica in Hap40 still gets pocket time.

51931C7D-69A6-4318-8BC5-649A98C8718F.jpeg The Emisar D4 V2 is probably my most carried light at the moment. I really like how much power it has for such a small light. I also have a Emisar D1S that is a nice compact thrower and if I need something bigger I go with my Astrolux FT03. Really these are...

Re: Best Edge Performance Steel between these choices?
I voted Maxamet as it is my best performer but the Rex 45 may be my favorite. Just the way Rex45 sharpens up and it holds its edge very well plus is being offered in a few models I love to carry. Really though I am happy with any steel that Spyderco puts out. I still occasionally carry my Delica in...

Re: Manix 2 rex45 g10 model
Well I managed to score one. The one that I am really looking forward to is the lightweight Manix in rex45. I like g10 but my lightweight versions get carried more often. Without hijacking the thread too far... can you explain why you prefer the LW Manix2 over the G10? I am really interested in und...

Re: Please Help Me Buy a Flashlight!
The Olight and the Wowtach are actually pretty good choices for edc flashlights. I have a little Olight i3e that has been on my key ring for a few years. For my bigger lights for walking I usually go with an Emisar D1S or my Astrolux FT03, both these lights have a nice dim moonlight mode and with a ...
