Re: Ranking Sprint Runs? Recent & Past models?
Most of my spydies are sprints/exclusives, and I especially love anything in M4, Rex 45 or K390. Even though K390 is my favorite steel, if I had to pick just one knife it would be the PM2 Tanto in M4. I recently spoke with a member of the community who’s a very cool dude who I respect the crap out o...

Re: Do you use your Spyderco or just collect them?
Check out this thread for the pictures you were asking about: https://forum.spyderco.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=93480 For myself, I’ll echo the sentiments of many on here. I buy every knife with the intent to use it, but I have an absurd number at this point and I gravitate more to some than others...

Re: BladeHQ Exclusive Lum Tanto
love the color scheme and love seeing discontinued designs being brought back. No my favorite colors but these things are so subjective and I know a lot of people will be into it. And I’m with you on resurrecting old designs, it’s a pretty cool thing Spyderco and BHQ have been doing! Just noticed i...

Re: Work Horse/Abused Spydercos
Was gonna take a pic of my rex 45 para 3, which I’ve used as a can opener in a pinch, but can’t find it - gonna have to ask my gf about that! So in its place, here are a few safe queens which you can tell I take very good care of and never use https://i.postimg.cc/0yCj7F3C/F7151-BC3-09-C1-4075-B128-...

Re: M390 vs S90V
I don't have any experience with Spyderco's M390 but have used M390 from another knife company. And if I were to compare that M390 to Spyderco's S90V (of which I have a bit of experience using at work), I'd take S90V over M390 any day & twice on Sunday. It keeps a fine edge and a working edge n...

Re: CPM 15v Manix 2
In the most simplified terms, "toughness" indicates how steel will deform when stressed (chip, roll, flatten...) and "strength" will tell you when that deformation will begin to occur ( yield strength ) and up to ultimate failure ( tensile strength ). Many other factors at play ...

Re: CPM 15v Manix 2
Thanks for the info, trying to wrap my head around strength vs toughness and when they come into play. Supersteel Steve used to have some great videos explaining it, but a while back he took down most of his channel and said he’d be uploading them on Rumble. I can’t find anything which is a bummer,...

Re: CPM 15v Manix 2
I don't think there is any correct answer to your question, except depends. What are you cutting? How much are you cutting? What do you sharpen with? How often are you able to sharpen? You will see a lot of opinions on here from people edc'ing H1 to Maxament and all being enjoyed. I think that is w...

Re: The Spyderco knife used on Chicago PD.
Well I watched it might have been Spyderco. Wonder why detective had to pocket fish, when knife should have had clip? DUMB DUMB DUMB. Chicago PD is entertainment show, no real Cop show like Adam 12, or Sam. Both from Jack Webb. If Chicago had real Cops like deprecated on TV, Chicago would be safe p...

Re: CPM 15v Manix 2
I love and hate this thread. Before it started I felt like I had some basic steel knowledge. If the edge is the same geometry a tougher knife would take less damage (chipping or rolling) from hitting/cutting something hard and high edge retention well is high edge retention. But now I see k390 hitt...

Re: CPM 15v Manix 2
Regards this steel in this knife, the following enlightened me: As for pairing that with a “low toughness” steel that emphasizes edge retention, the Manix has good ergos for lots of cutting and the stronger tip probably reduces the likelihood of it breaking because accidents happen. I’m flattered a...

Re: CPM 15v Manix 2
Several of the major retailers already have it listed but “out of stock,” with the option to sign up to be alerted when it’s available. The more you sign up for the better because they’re likely to drop at different times.

Re: CPM 15v Manix 2
Just one guy’s opinion, but here are some of the reasons I consider the Manix 2 to be one of the more abusable knives I’ve used (emphasis on “more abusable” because hard use is for fixed blades): -Larger pivot -THICC liners -Hefty backspacer, screwed to the liners in two places, serves as stop pin -...

Re: CPM REX 45 | Edge Performance
I’ve used Rex 45 a pretty good amount, and I don’t think I’ve ever noticed chipping…. I consider it the most abusable steel I’ve used. I sharpen on DMT diamond stones, if that makes a difference.

Re: CPM 15v Manix 2
I had a pair of AWT scales on my favorite PM2 (k390) for a while, they’re a fantastic product…. I might put them back on it soon. Torn between those and some Fireside Co terotuf for the manix.

Re: Spyderco Rocks
I had to order a couple replacement clips from the store this morning and I’m kicking myself for forgetting the name of the guy who helped me over the phone - his disposition was so positive and enthusiastic that it made my morning, and I told him so at the end of the call. If anyone over there read...
