He and Sal would create a new "Fire and Ice" line of knives. All capable of shooting flames while floating in space. And they'd all have internal solar powered batteries so you can charge your phone on the go.

Re: Is this claim about an "ideallic world" true or false?
James, very good points. Here is the question to you and others on here, about this: Can there be some sort of compromise, where we know it is not a utopia but, where at least every human being on Earth can somehow have a state of existence that we would call "upper middle class", where t...

Bodog and others: How would true automated soldiers, such as war robots, alter this history? Let us say that truly flexible and self repairing robots that could do all that human beings do on the battlefield but even better are developed, and they are reasonably inexpensive, say produced through so...

Re: Winnable vs Unwinnable Wars: Are there ways to know which are which?
Wars are only won when the population is subjugated. Having said that, subjugation does not have to be done through overt military actions. America is at war right now on multiple fronts, the military is only one. Look at who's being subjugated and who's doing the subjugating. It's not always clear ...

Re: China and tariffs
I think the harsh reality is that the average person would rather have low priced products made by slaves than fairly priced products made by free people. As long as they don't have to think about the slaves and their environment, it's okay. The hypocrisy is kind of sad to see, people wanting slave ...

Re: How different is your daily carry knife w/ gloves on?
I do think that the type of glove you are using plays a huge role in how easy it is to work with, Quite so. I had a job years ago where I had to spend some time each day in a -20 defree freezer, and had to break down boxes in there. We wore some really thick knitted wool mittens that pretty much el...

Salute to you, Sal
I typed this in another thread but i feel like it deserves a spot of its own. I salute you, Sal. Your story and the company you've carved and the inspiration you've given to so many people inspire me. It inspires me to believe that while none of us are perfect, we can strive to be and actually accom...

Re: Sal's Casual Bombshell Thread
All of my designs are to hold and use. I'v added some novelty in some of my designs, like the "Q". Sometimes I'll try to add an attractive handle like on the Chaparral. But in general, I'm all about high performance, Ergos, safety. That's why I've been accused of "deigning in the dar...

Re: CTS XHP
From what Sal wrote, I’m surprised Cold Steel discontinued XHP. It seemed they were doing a decent volume of it after moving so many model to it from AUS 8. S35VN is still very good, though. I bet there's more going on there with Cold Steel than simple supply issues. Maybe supplies at the cost Cold...

What about freeze dried or dehydrated leafy greens? I imagine making cakes out of a mix of peanut butter and dehydrated spinach would taste like crap but give a lot of what we need that we can't always hunt or forage for. Am i off base? demoncase, does this mean a person could get, say, a few massiv...

Re: CTS XHP
I really only started using XHP because it was in the Chaparral (which I love, and which is not available in any other steel). It's impressed me enough that I now really do prefer it to s30v and s35vn, and actually did some personal (totally subjective) comparison tests by carrying the XHP manix ba...

Re: sal, have you or others ever looked at Carbinox T508 Steel?
Thank you all for the interesting feedback on this. Does that mean that while a particular blade steel may be profitable for one knife company, that does not necessarilly guarantee that another company would find the same use out of that same alloy for their knives? I know some types of steel are u...

Re: Which Golden made design for 15V debut?
We're all over the place on this but I'm sure I would overlook not getting the exact model I choose in the poll and gladly buy whatever Spyderco selected and I'd be very thankful. Joe I agree. At least it can be said that most Golden made models are about equally popular as potential test beds for ...

sal, have you and the Spyderco crew ever examined this steel? Carbinox T58. I do not know if it is a proprietary alloy formula, or, if they have it made by some steel producer and then purchase it and make knife blades from it. The description is interesting: https://www.marttiini.fi/The-Sharpest-E...

Re: New Boots!
I wear Rocky SV2 boots on duty, I've worn red wing boots(or their subsidiary company's) boots for more than a decade. I've tried Danners, they last a long time, definitely durable, but the three models I've tried, ft lewis, acadia, and striker, aren't comfortable for me. The Rockies are just as dura...

I'm having a blast making different scales for them and trying new scale material. I hope to get as many mules as I possibly can before they're gone. 2 pd#1 and 2 pma11 would have been awesome to have been able to get maxamet or damascus... The PD1 and PMA11 are both fantastic steels, so don't feel...
