Re: Next Generation Military suggestions thread?!?!
Not to criticize your choice of knives and locks, most of the deck crew on my destroyer carried fixed blades for the reasons you describe. Lol I would hope you aren't criticizing my love for the spyderco military. I believe you would be met with some opposition around here. :D It was just an exampl...

Re: M390
M390 is great. It's a really good all around steel that cuts aggressively and forms very little burr in sharpening. K390 has more carbon, much more molybdenum, a tiny bit more tungsten (both are pretty low), and significantly more vanadium. M390 has much more chromium, which is obvious since it's st...

Re: Next Generation Military suggestions thread?!?!
I assume stronger/more reliable locks aren't supposed to directly cater to people who mostly are breaking down cardboard boxes and opening letters. As I type this I'm on a dredge in 4ft seas and an hour ago I had to cut a 5" thick rope that had broken (2 strands of 8 remaining) so we could repl...

Check washers. All fakes I've seen use teflon instead of bronze.

Re: Anybody Else Have This Issue?
My work pants wear out in other places long before the knife can ruin the pocket, lol. I think i rotate pants/shorts frequently enough to avoid this issue on my time off as well. No issues.

Re: How to Sharpen Maxamet
excellent sharpening videos shawn! i just cringe whenever some "professional" sharpeners blame the steel on YT just because they couldn't sharpen it properly. good to have you and michael christy showing how its done. Same here! I think they just don't have any patience. Patience can mean...

Re: Toughest stainless steel ?
The toughness of s30v seems to be often overlooked. My buck vantage pro, which is run at a higher rockwell than most s30v blades can handle quite a bit before any damage is seen. No it's not. It is normally pretty incomparable to steels that have higher toughness, if you really need that. When you ...

More super steels! I know they're hard to work with, but they sell out don't they? :D
HAP72, s125v, REX 121, 15V, more Maxamet? S390?
A guy can dream can't he? :D

Re: Next Generation Military suggestions thread?!?!
Although I prefer tip up carry, this is not nearly as big of an issue as it is for most people. I pull the knife out and deploy it quickly regardless. I honestly don't understand how this could be a deal breaker, but it obviously is. For those who have the titanium framelock versions, do you prefer ...

Re: How to Sharpen Maxamet
Excellent technique. You put the scratch pattern going from tip/spine to tang/edge, increasing slicing performance on pull slicing. This is often overlooked. Perfect!

Re: Next Generation Military suggestions thread?!?!
I do not want the current design of the Military to go anywhere. I would absolutely dread the day that it gets discontinued. With that said, can a Military 2 be introduced and have both available at once? A Military 2 would undoubtedly hurt the sales of the Military, but overall, it may be insignifi...

From what I've gathered, Elmax is pretty darn tough for a high quality stainless.

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Military is on the hunt with me today  Never eaten morels but I like hunting for them. :) BTW how do you like your knife? I've been thinking about getting a Millie...kind of torn between the 204p exclusive and S110V... This is my first Millie, and I was debating the same two knives just a few...
