Re: Manix2 LW compared to G10?

Interesting feedback, I wonder if the blade on a Maxamet light weight model could be used in a G-10 Handle?

Am I correct the PM2 and Para3 are the only G10 Maxamet knives by Spyderco?

Re: Manix2 LW compared to G10?

Doeswhatever, I only owned a LW Manix, never a G10. But just fyi: The Manix 2 LW handle is made from FRCP, not FRN. Not a huge, but for me noticeable difference: FRCP somehow feels harder, more plasticy, more prone to being brittle (FEELS like that, don´t know if it is the case!) compared to FRN An...

Manix2 LW compared to G10?

I have tried to warm up to the Manix2 for a long time now and with the recent acquisition of Maxamet in Both a PM2 and a Native 5 LW I am feeling the Spyderco bite hard to go after the Manix 2 in this steel due to the way Maxamet performs. I also love the stone wash finish Spyderco is giving Maxamet...

The cost is prohibitive. They sell well at prices that is a loss for us. Not a good business decision. Competing with the Chinese is challenging and that's how they've taken over the manufacturing of many of the world's products. I believe it will be a bigger problem in the future. The current COVI...

Re: rust on cts-xhp

I have had some minor rust dots show up on my hundred pacer. Nothing serious Flitz could not remove. I would not put it in the take care of it like tool steel but would say it is highly corrosion resistant and at the very least food safe mineral oil in the area close to the pivot. Then again I am no...

Alright the brittleness is something solved by Spyderco in 2019 / 2020
Mine is older than that, and doesn't seem brittle at all.
This is good!

Alright the brittleness is something solved by Spyderco in 2019 / 2020 I live in Florida my spring is a lot of people’s summer and having the A/C go out is brutal not to mention hurricanes and prolonged power outages. Today I mounted a semi permenant installation of a window A/C an LG 1200 BTU unit....

Hi Whatever, I enjoy Michael's videos. He's passionate, intelligent, skilled and a good communicator. sal Agreed on all points, say Sal are we not past due for a new sharpening video from you? It was your now very dated but still valid, video online that made me first buy a Sharpmaker then a PM2. I...

Re: Spyderco 2020 Lists: Delivered & Upcoming

Oh I would buy a Para3 fully serrated in something other than S30V which I already own and will not part with.

The serrations give it superior cutting power in a compact package.

I am however done with Plain edge Para3’s I prefer the PM2 in plain edge.

The Michael Christy Way Of Sharpening

Lately I have been holding stones in my open left hand and sharpening in the manner of Michael Christy. He essentially goes from Spine to edge. I have discovered he is correct it recreates the edge from the factory neither biased towards the pull nor the push cut but even each way. Look at his video...

Re: MAXAMET!

Last night I decided to touch up a Zwilling pro Chefs knife and thought oh what the heck might as well do the Native 5 in my pocket. I used a 1000 Grit Shapton Glass Stone followed by a 6000 grit Shapton Glass stone as this was what I was using on the Zwilling. All I can say is Maxamet is easy to sh...

Re: Your top 10 why?

S30V is somewhat of a protected topic on this board, Lol small wonder.... Spyderco has used it as a base steel for so long in so many great models and it is the sprints made of Cruwear and other alloys that have given these models fresh life and direct comparisons and S30V comes up wanting as does S...

It looks as though someone was a little exuberant with a belt sharpener. I’d pass.

Also, you said it is cheap. How cheap? That might indicate quite a lot.

Re: Your top 10 why?

Mind cleaning up those pictures a bit pretty hard to see what is what in any detail. As For top 10 no problem #1. Maxamet Native = Light weight, ergonomics of the handle afford different hand positions allowing it to slice above its pay grade and keep the hands safe from sharp edged cardboard create...
