Re: Lil’Native slippie, at last
Bad day: tested positive for C-19. Feeling a bit off-colour, but getting some work done. Good day: my Lil’Native slip-it arrived from DLT! I’m really liking the spring tension - and the lack of a half stop. Tbh I was a little trepidatious on these, and also the ergo’s, having not got on with the co...

Re: The Carry Conundrum
I have the opposite problem, I try to carry something and keep circling back around to the same one. I've had days where I put a knife in my pocket and before I'm out the door I've turned around and gone back to switch it out for the one I carry the most. yeah, i'm there with you. And it's difficul...

Re: Blade HQ M4/Micarta Shaman
kind of ambivalent on this one. I do enjoy the OEM shaman scales, so that's a plus. BHQ probably isn't going to do a DLC version either....but I already have the DLC M4/Jade version.

I reckon magnacut would be a more suitable choice, but we might see an exclusive?

Re: Have you tried a serrated z-cut?
I've got more than a few (only got the SE versions) and I like them quite a bit. That said, the flexibility does not inspire confidence for kitchen users who are used to rigid cutting tools.

I would really enjoy a GB2 Salt. But while I'm wishing, I'd like to try a Rock Salt in Magnacut....

Re: Bradley 2 or Native Chief??
For me the Chief is pretty close to the most aesthetically pleasing design Spyderco has produced to date. It’s great in hand too.
The GB2 is a wonderful workhorse that will not lead you astray.
Hard to pick one, that’s why I have both!

I enjoy both, but M4's corrosion resistance leaves a lot to be desired in the summer.

Re: A perspective on a fad in the knife world.
The differences in tasks in the kitchen alone have typically justified multiple knives. Branch out beyond food preparation and the task diversity almost justifies most of our collections. Almost.

Re: Blue Ti Titanium Scales
Blue shows up at least twice in the range of anodizing colors. You can get a thin layer blue, created by relatively low voltage, or a thicker layer blue at higher voltage. Both layers are much thinner than something like powder coat, and will scratch fairly easily. HOWEVER, most wear happens at the ...

Re: Damasteel Ivory G10 Urban
It is layers of steel throughout the blade, so it’s as deep as it can be. The “etch” people refer to is mostly the patina on the non-stainless steel layers. This is all, of course, coming from a fan who hasn’t done much looking into the science. Damasteel etching produces a visible difference of su...

Re: sprint urban price
...... If we want a cheaper knife, maybe Spyderco can do a damasteel “mule” next time, where the steel is finished like a standard blade. The end user can then polish, mask, and etch the blade to their liking assuming they have the equipment and skills. That's not a half bad idea. I'd buy one. I wo...

Re: sprint urban price
I’d say the finishing alone is where a large portion of the cost increase appears. Heat treating might be done in batches, but damasteel finishing is no joke. This needs much more than a belt finish. Let’s say you get to a consistent finish on all pieces and now it’s time to etch. Unless you’re buil...
