Isn't a straight spine Stretch basically a Caly 3.5? I voted no.

Great job, that's the first modified GB I've ever seen. Any chance you could post a thickness picture between the original GB and the G10 scaled version? I've been looking into new scales for mine, but can't figure out how to keep it as thin as it is.

Sage 3 vs Caly 3.5

So I'm starting to feel the itch for a new Spydie, and the Sage 3 and Caly 3.5 have me the most interested. Could anyone post a pic of the knives side by side, so I can get an idea of blade length and handle thickness? If you have any experience with either knives, please feel free to share it here....

Honestly I've never seen a CRK Sebenza with a broken tip, but have seen/heard of a handful of millies with a busted tip. Probably a topic on the front page here about it right now- so it seems the CRK is actually more of a heavier use knife as well as a dress knife. military is good for food prep m...

Congrats on the new custom! For a 'do everything' kind of folder', I really can't think of a better knife than my Military. There's other blades I've wanted to like more, but I always come back to it. Spyderco just did a great job designing that blade for being used.

Congrats on the Sharpmaker, it's hard to keep yourself from looking for things to sharpen around the house. Glad to hear I'm not the only one always picking up scraps of paper after testing my edges.

I'll be the voice of dissent and say that I have absolutely no interest in PE H1. In Spyderco's in house tests, they showed that plain H1 ranks in under AUS8 for edge holding, while the serrated version outclasses even ZDP from the work hardening during grinding. Especially on a hawkbill knife for p...

I'D move to New Hampshire just for the quote on their license plate: "Live free or die"... How cool is that. New Hampshire is the best. Low amounts of people, high amounts of gorgeous natural resources and places, plus you're still close to Boston if you need to head into the city. I spen...

I prefer Spyderco's S30V by a fair margin to their VG10. Spyderco does an extremely good heat treat on their S30V for a production company.

A low profile wire clip wouldn't look out of place on larger Kiwi. Plus, if someone wanted to be clip-free, they could just take it off.

I vote notched, full scales (unless you can come up with bolsters more resistant to scratches), and flat ground.

Good advice, I agree with it! One of the biggest keys to Sharpmaker success is definitely to use very light pressure. Makes extended sessions not hurt and gives the best edges.

Blade play while closed seems like it shouldn't matter in the slightest, it's the open lock up that's important. I had a sprint XHP Manix that had a tiny bit of play while open, but after EDCing it for a month or two, it seemed to seat itself and wear in enough so the play vanished. Problem literall...

I haven't noticed any great difference between the XHP and S30V Manix 2 blades. IMO it's very good, like almost every steel Spyderco uses now, but not remarkable, and not in the uber-steel tier like S90V or Spyderco's CPM-M4. This mirrors my experience. XHP is great steel, but in use seemed similar...

Here's a really good quote from custom maker Jerry Hossom. It's much more telling than just speculating about a steel and reading the data sheet. This is what Jerry Hossom has to say about CPM3V on another forum; In my opinion, CPM-3V is the best knife steel ever. It has the finest grain structure o...

CPM-M4 is great stuff. Quite tough and will hold a killer edge for a very long time. It seems to touch up very nicely even though there's so much vanadium and it's at such a high RC level. Probably due to the CPM process. I've been carrying a Gayle Bradley for about 2 months straight now, and I'm im...

I can get my blades to whittle hair just using a light touch on the Sharpmaker with the UF stones.
