Re: Poll: more CBBL

Don't forget the pkal. It shows that the cbbl can fit in smaller designs, it's just a question of what trade offs were made to do so.

Re: Spyderco's Unique & One Of A Kind Sharpening Tools?

Just to add to the goldenstone love. It's probably the most unique (and still useful) sharpening tool I've come across. The curvature on the edge is perfect for serrations as well. The ceramic files are pretty great too. I really like the slip or tear drop one, again I've not come across anything el...

Re: Thanks a lot Dan. Sliverax

The one's I've seen that had the flipper removed looked just as good. I epoxied a "button" to the compression lock tab of mine to make it very easy to operate left handed. If I had to keep only one, sentimental value aside, there's a very high chance it'd be the sliverax.

Re: Two blade Spyderco?

Well since we're all chiming in with ideas... I think the flipper/wheel on the ikuchi and smock could be applied to a double blade folder while allowing a comfortable handle. Could even do one smock style one ikuchi style so there would be tactile feedback which blade you were about to open.

Re: What's your favorite Spyderco that's a little bit of a "hidden gem?"

Sliverax. You get a lot of cutting edge for the size and weight. I epoxied a piece of nylon unto the lock bar of mine and made a poor man's smock button with it, it works incredibly well.

I'd also throw out most schempp designs. They come across as oddities but are actually very well designed.

Re: What's the one that got away?

Barong. I was unaware of spyderco back when they were in production, and even if I had been at that time I was wary of "weird" knives. I've since come to thoroughly enjoy and appreciate the different designs and the barong has eluded me ever since. I find them occasionally on flea bay or o...

Re: Axes, Hathcets & Camp Axes

You can't forget the old ax heads you find gathering dust in antique stores and flea markets. It's still very easy to find a well made one at a great price. From there it's just a matter of hanging it. The handles you find in hardware stores are usually expensive and low quality so I'd recommend ord...

Re: Spyderco Military and Paramilitary 2 upcoming sprints and exclusives

I found myself all about Spyderco! Love all the steel and style options. While it is very unfortunate, i will apparently have to buy a "butterfly brand" (i hate typing that) if i want to try M4. Do i WANT to buy a non Spydie? **** NO! All i have to do to get an M4 blade from the other com...

Re: Which Spyderco Haunts You Most?

Probably the barong. Actually saw one that wasn't priced into the stratosphere on the fleabay the other day, but unfortunately the timing was wrong and it quickly went higher than I could justify. But at least I managed to find a decently priced khukuri last year. Part of me wishes I had been on to ...

Re: More button compression locks?

I'm not expecting to see this from the factory, though I could be wrong. I could see it becoming a popular mod. Ferider used a pivot to create a button on an amalgam, and I'm currently testing out using epoxy for a quick and removable job. https://forum.spyderco.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=83181 htt...

Re: Phantom Lock: Tell me what this thing is and how is it compared to others?

Basically it is a backlock, but instead of pushing down on the lock bar you push down on the rear of the left scale. Definitely a novelty, but for the size of the knife it seems plenty strong. The best part of it is showing your knife buddies how easy it is to open and close then watching them strug...

Latest experiment.

This one was a pretty safe bet. I'd been kicking it around for awhile before I saw the smock but never tried it (I like to over think, which leads to hesitation and procrastination). As soon as I saw the smock it was an instant must have, and now that I have one in my pocket I had the motivation to ...

Meerkat clip

I feel incredibly silly for only just realizing that the meerkat clip holes allow for wire or standard clip. Have there been any others with that kind of set up?

Re: Pouches for work

I have this thing. Ended up taking the magnet out of mine. It's nice because it has a clip instead of a loop so you can take it off throughout the day if you want.

Re: Carabiner clip

I’m headed to a local hardware store today to try and find some screws to mount the clip, the prototype will probably be done this weekend. Because I cherish my Spyderco knives I will be mounting this to my Cara Cara 2 work knife in order to see how well it functions. EXTREAM CAUTION!!! If you make...

Re: Ideas for "sprint runs", NOT concerning steel (let´s dream...)

G10 sliverax? Give the rear of the handle just a bit more thickness but keep the forward part thin, emphasize the egg shape even more. Buuuut since you did say "let's dream".... An ikuchi smock dyad hybrid. So two blades, one serrated one plain. Ikuchi style fit into the handle. Smock styl...
