Re: Interest in non-Salt hawkbills?
I'd bet I just need a Reverse S in H1, or a Hawkbill shaped folder with compression lock. It's just not been released yet! Superhawk has a VG-10 blade, carbon-fiber scales, wire pocketclip, and Compression Lock . I wish it did better commercially, but selling people what they need is rarely viable.

They've done Blue Super and MBS-26, so SRS-15 sounds right up that alley.

If that's something that could be done, I'd be all for it. Orange, PE and SE for indoors and outdoors if possible.sal wrote:I'm not opposed. Maybe an orange handle?

H1 Spyderhawks
Spring is around the corner. That's a good reason to do sprint runs of the H1 Spyderhawk (PE & SE) in orange, black, and foliage green FRN, right? Just a way to squeeze some service out of the E3 handle tooling, right? Maybe as a way to whet appetites for an as yet undesigned Caribbean Superhawk...

Edited to add: Forgot there are two sizes, too. Do you want all eight or are there particular must must haves?

Re: License the Tri-Ad lock for Byrds?
They use the Reeve Integral Linerlock and Walker Liner Lock. The Ball Bearing Lock, Caged Ball Bearing Lock, and Axis Lock are all homages of the Bolt Action Lock (which Spyderco has also used). I don't see how licensing one lock for the value line of folders is "admitting defeat," but the...

Re: D'Allara 3 feedback
The lack of a 50/50 choil has kept me from enjoying the original D'Allara and D'Allara Drop Point knives as much as I enjoy other models. With the new model, they kept it off the blade so hard that it wiped the choil off the Chinook 4 as well. If adding a 50/50 choil is a deal-breaker for the design...

Re: PE Hawkbill & PE Reverse S Spyders?
Small, Reverese S-Curves, like the Meerkat SE and Dodo PE, make landscape cutting fun (with the Spyderedge not blunting over as wide of an area as quickly as the plain-edged). In the house and office, the plain-edged Reverse S-Curve is my favorite for opening blister packs and cutting banding withou...

Re: License the Tri-Ad lock for Byrds?
How is the Power Lock against lint? I have no problem with the strength of most back locks; especially not ones designed by the Glesser family.

I think the Q-Ball is kind of like that; only without the beaky goodness of a small, Reverse S-curved blade

License the Tri-Ad lock for Byrds?
I don't have reason to believe Andrew Demko's Tri-Ad lock is necessarily stronger than a regular backlock, but I've been carrying a Cold Steel 'large' Voyager Vaquero folding pocketknife almost daily since January 2012 and it hasn't been blocked from engaging like my :spyder: Native and my Pop's :sp...

Bring back the Dodo and Polliwog at mid-2000s street prices. :p
My daughter's black SE Dodo and my black PE one combined with shipping don't add up to an orange PE one.

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2017 Report
I would have been just fine with the ATR in VG10 too. Back when I was young, the Earth's crust became a little more firm, and we got used to a predominantly nitrogen atmosphere, Seki was making VG-10 ATR knives with stainless handles and integral Compression Lock. The new Li'l Temp2 will have Seki ...

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2017 Report
It really is an amazing time to be alive when steels like S30V are considered outdated or inadequate. Not the world's biggest cheerleader for ledeburitic steels, but, yes, that's weird. It's like complaining that your elephant can tap dance, but not waltz. I like how the reboot of the ATR combines ...
