I have one and rarely carry it for just that reason. The design is SO purpose built that I can't find a comfortable grip for normal use. The ergos are just all wrong.

Great project gbelleh! Sal should pay you a commission, you've already talked me into getting a Domino. I was on the fence until reading your review. I picked up a Zowada a year or so ago and it's sorta gotten lost in my Spydie collection. Now I need to go dig it out and carry it for a couple of day...

I was kind of hoping it would go to china so it would come out in the $35 range. Naw, the change to a slipjoint with the Kiwi 3 and the move to China with 8CR13MOV ruined the Kiwi for me. If you have ever compared one the older lock back models with the new one you will know what I'm talking about....

I'd say Manix 2 or Endura, either in combo edge. Neither have a liner lock, both have good steel, and both cost less than $100 each. Considering the torture that you you put your knives through, I wouldn't spend much more than that. In fact, if you are as tough on them as you say, I'd probably buy B...

Used incorrectly, any sharpener can damage an edge. Power tools just make it easy to do more damage, more quickly. Beyond that, you're limited to sharpening at either 40º or 50º inclusive, and most folks seem to prefer more acute edge bevels. Aside from the heating issue, they are releasing a 'Ken ...

If I remember correctly, the white was a sprint color that was released after an artist named Tom Sachs requested a white Delica for a NASA tribute. I believe they were all made in combo edge with a shiny clip. I know that there was an Endura version released as well as an original Dragonfly version.

While I understand the modesty, or ethical dilemma, the series' basis is to showcase the industry's locks. Actually, it was to honor the DESIGNERS of the locks, and to use the designer's favorite handle materials. Therefore the term 'Sage'. As in wise. While it IS about lock designs, it's more abou...

Some of these guys are so busy that they can't even reply to PMs and emails on a timely basis. In his youtube vids, Tuffthumbz has mentioned several times that calling him is the best way to get his attention.

Well, with the full liners of the G-10 version, it would be a LOT easier to make custom scales for it. The nested liners on the FRN versions are MUCH more difficult.

I know that he said about a year ago that they were working on something. I'd sure love to see another Sage. I LOVE the concept of a series of knives that have identical blade shapes and handle profiles, with the only differences being in lock designs and handle materials. I just hope all the other ...

Mike, sounds like you have a great start on a Spydie collection. I actually used an old early generation SS Endura for years before I became aware of all the other models that Spyderco sold. In fact, it wasn't until that knife was sacrificed to the Lake Gods and I went looking for another that the W...

I voted for the Zulu. It feels great in the hands and I've found the blade shape to be very functional. Plus, this is the time to get one if you are planning on it. They are disco'd and on sale for now. When stocks run out the price will certainly climb.

Actually, it doesn't have to be all that much more expensive to get a premium steel in a Spyderco. Check out the FRN Handled Native and the Delica/Endura. The native comes with CPM-S30V and the Delica/Endura line use VG-10. Both are great steels, and these knives won't break the bank.

I was very fortunate, in that when I first started thinking about getting a military, the 2nd run of orange had just been released not too long before. I'm working my way through my Delicas. Currently I have 12, and I'm eagerly waiting on the Super Blue to drop.

Today its a red franken Delica. I wanted a red, and wasn't about to dye my white sprint, so I got a trainer and raped it of it's scales.

If I'm not mistaken there is a standard distance from the pivot that Spyderco places the center of the spydie hole on most of their one handed folders. I think that lil' hole on the Pingo is quite a bit closer to the pivot. That's probably why the studs don't work very well. I can't see any way of m...

I Have both knives and really like them both. I call the Vallotton a "Steel fist in a velvet glove". It looks VERY elegant, but is one of the most over built liner locks that I've owned. The fit and finish on mine is totally flawless, and you can't even feel the separating lines in the sub...
