Re: When will we see the Caly 3.5 Lightweight?

So the Caly 3 and 3.5 are thin enough that G10 I think works well, but FRN does have its advantages and would probably be popular.

Re: Let's Get Serious: G-10 Handles Are Just Hard To Beat For EDC uses

’ll get an frn para3 soon and I doubt I’ll ever carry my g10 model anymore. I would REALLY like a PM3 in FRN :) I see a parallel here between G10 vs FRN and wood vs synthetic stock rifles. Wood is more attractive, but synthetic is way more practical. I think this is exactly the case with G10 vs FRN.

Re: Let's Get Serious: G-10 Handles Are Just Hard To Beat For EDC uses

I think G10 is classy, and I like G10 for that reason. But isn't FRN always going top be thinner? That would really benefit a knife like the PM3 that's kind of fat.

My only real concern is deformation of the pivot hole, which could be remedied by using minimal liners like the Manix 2 lightweight uses. Otherwise full liners are just excess weight. The Military proves it.
You make a really good point.

Are the two versions S35vn G10 with and without steel liners different in their PN? If so, what's the right PN to look for when you want a version with steel liners?
It's worse than that; the liner-less model could be S35VN or S30V.

Re: I Have a Hankering for a G10 Scales Native 5

Just got the linerless, and it’s fantastic. Love the weight, compared to the lingered tank. Both are nice, but this is real nice. I'll have to hand it to you, you were right, the liner-less model is solid. I was going to send mine back when I realized it did not match the description but I really d...

Re: I Have a Hankering for a G10 Scales Native 5

Well - I THOUGHT I ordered a version with liners; that's what the description said. But what arrived is the linerless model with S35VN. Actually, I kind of like it :)

I submitted a review stating the description was not accurate and like 2 hours later they updated it.

Re: First real spyderco for sons 18th B-day ???

Any of the three you listed are great. I would say the PM2 (black or camo) or maybe get him the discontinued Native 5 with black G10 and S35VN steel. The Manix 2 LW in S110V is also hard to beat. That's my three in that order.

Re: I Have a Hankering for a G10 Scales Native 5

I just ordered the older model with steel liners/S35VN. I know they won't sell out next week but it's only a matter of time; might as well get it now.

Do you want the new linerless g10 base model with s30v or the old base model with liners and s35vn? Bc the older ones are getting harder to find.
Old one - and thanks for pointing that out.

I Have a Hankering for a G10 Scales Native 5

I have two FRN Native 5's; and even with all the new Spydies out there; all I want right now is a Native 5 with G10 scales. Even a plain Jane black with S35V steel would be fine.

Re: What's the lowest edge retention steel you'd carry?

I would carry a high quality 440C or 420HC blade knife. Needless to say, VG10 is enough for me. Do I own better? Sure! But there's a big difference between what I want and what I need.

Which Spyderco fits you?

I recently bought an over and under shotgun and was paying attention to which make and model was a perfect fit for me. It occurred to me that certain Spyderco knives were also a good fit, and I mean physically in the hand to do a particular job or perhaps just for a general EDC. For me, the Caly 3, ...

I have a Delica with Damascus steel, and the etched Damascus pattern is fading with use, is that normal for Damascus? Is there anything I can do about that?

Love the Calypso JR

Just got a used Calypso JR and was surprised; The action is super smooth. The satin clip is unique and very cool. The font of the engraving is different. I like that the blade is not sandwiched in another steel. Worth it if you can find one.
