Re: Spyderco's "Iconic Steel"?
Their steels constantly change and have for some time. Means to an end. They will continue to improve over time. This is it. What separates them from other production makers is their willingness to test and develop new things, and make a change if it improves performance. If something comes along w...

Re: Recommendations wanted-First $150+ knife
Really loving my mantra2. Great ergos, weight, and buttery smooth fast deployment. +1 for caly rec, it has the greatest ergos and in my opinion one the most elegant designs of any folder anywhere. I just love how the thumb ramp and 50/50 choil flows with the same curvature opened and closed and yet ...

Re: How to improve the Manix 2
Put the axis lock on it... Benchmades patent recently expired. And increase the blade length to 3.46'' but don't change the handle. Would this qualify it to be called the Manix 3? do you make "improvement" suggestions everywhere or just for spyderco? Have you ever contacted ikea and told ...

Re: Exotic Japanese steels
1. Please see if the next run of E4 and D4 in a new steel can NOT be clad. Really hoped HAP40 was going to be solid slab I think it was mentioned in another thread that the frn line maker (g Sakai?) prefers or maybe only uses cladded sheet of the hitachi steels vs moki hence the reason why the caly...

Re: Warranty Experiences
I own close to 50 spydies but never had the need to send anything in. I wouldn't be able to get it shipped back from them anyway since I'm in ny. I'd try to swap with the retailer too if I were in that situation. Considering that you own 200 of their product, you obviously think highly of their prod...

Sal, how about using this design as the next forum knife? I mean, this has gotta be a first.. Idea developed on the forum and brought to life with feedback from members? This blade is the epitome of a forum knife. Maybe in goldenrod g10 and supergold?

Can u also comment on how it compares to the cento 4 in use and what u might've found lacking in cento 4 for your specific tasks?

Re: 52100 Military, what are your plans?
This has become a nightmare. So, I go to Oso Grande and they have a 52100 sitting there on the website. Doesn't say back order, or not on stock, or preorder, etc. I add to cart and it lets me. I then proceed to finish my order, and do, and then I get confirmation email that my order is processed an...

Re: Looking for a 52100 enabler
It's a no brainer. 1000 PC sprint run, so if you try it and don't like it u can always flip it and it's guaranteed to hold its value. Besides, this isn't something that ELUs have been clamoring for, it's something sal himself wanted in his pocket. Just do it.

Re: Benchmade convert - recomendations
Since you're prob used to the axis locks, if you want something with a similar familiar locking mechanism, maybe try the sage 3 or manix 2? Cbbl on manix is noticeably stiffer tho, which I actually prefer. Bolt on sage 3 somewhat similar. Sage 3 also shares a lot of features on the caly3. Both flat ...

i just went for the steel sprints. I'm missing 154cm and bd1 but not really that excited about picking those up. I'd probably get the 154cm if it came in a flat grind.

My guess would be the tighter tolerances on the backlock for N5. I remember reading somewhere in another thread that they're holding it at 10,000th of an inch.farnorthdan wrote:Interesting this one is a little more expensive than the Manix2, wonder why? :spyder:

Re: Removing spotting from super blue?
Nice. I always wanted that kind of shimmery blue patina to develop. Mine seems to just uniformly darken. Maybe I need to cut more fruit.
I think I'll try buffing out with some combination of polish and wd40 then start from scratch forcing a new patina.

Thanks. If I try to force more of a patina over it is there a chance that the corrosion will spread? Or will it just sit as is?

First one that came to mind... https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7101/27153265575_9cbb8b6160_k.jpg I gotta go with native too. There's a reason why it's gone through so many iterations, refined the lock, produced several forum knives, and now even anniversary model. Obviously someone thinks extremely ...
