Re: Why Do Seki Models Have Lock Rock??!!

Well, if even the words of the guy who designed and manufactured them for decades is not to be trusted, it is sure this discussion will never result in a mutual understanding Bwahahaha! Y'know, those are the truest words of this whole thread. It must be hard being the renowned leader of a respected...

Re: Will the FO sharpen factory seconds?

Spyderco's official policy is that factory seconds are not eligible for the factory warranty or sharpening service. If you want to rely on the outlet sharpening your knives for you, you'll just need to buy full priced knives. So, If I bought a full priced knife they would sharpen it for me before t...

Re: Why Do Seki Models Have Lock Rock??!!

Not sure how you guys aren't noticing it. I just took out 10 Seki knives. Stretch(1), SS Stretch, Endela, Rock Jumper, 3 Delicas, and 3 Dragonflies. I had to push straight down hard on piece of hard wood I whittle on and there was a tiny bit of movement on all of them. There's no way I'd feel that ...

Re: Why Do Seki Models Have Lock Rock??!!

I had no idea there were so many folks on this forum who were metallurgists/industrial design engineers... I'm with Vivi. Complete faith in the safety of all my Spyderco lockbacks - and I have some from all factories. I am NOT a metallurgist or design engineer, so I trust the team in Golden over my...

Re: Why Do Seki Models Have Lock Rock??!!

With the amount of money we are required to pay for owning your typical Spyderco, there really shouldn’t be any kind of perceivable lock rock, blade play or any other kind of blade movement upon deployment and use. No movement is acceptable at these price points. I should not be receiving a lock kn...

Re: Why Do Seki Models Have Lock Rock??!!

I've never had a spyderco lockback fail me, lock rock or not. I've used them pretty hard too. I've batoned and pried with Pacific Salts many times, even used them for plain ol cutting once or twice :rofl For real though, saying these knives can't handle making kindling has gotta be a joke. I've use...

Re: Why Do Seki Models Have Lock Rock??!!

I am with OP 100%. In this day of age it’s almost unacceptable and the fact the many keep saying that it’s not like the lock would fail is just perpetuating the situation. I appreciate and understand Spyderco’s loyalty towards the Seki shop as much as the next guy but I guess the customers should co...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

The only knife I brought on this trip. Does well for how small it is, but I do miss a longer blade especially for food prep on hikes or in the accomodations with their notoriously superdull kitchen knives... ... For the weight, it's hard to find a better travel companion. / Weatherwise not much has...

Re: Is the Endura still well loved in 2023?

The Endura is my favorite larger knife. I have two, and will likely get another one at some point. I like the Military and want to check out the new Millie 2, but the Endura is very pocketable for such a large knife and it is very capable. What about the vertical blade play people are complaining ?

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

Carrying this old friend today. https://i.imgur.com/yofokda.jpeg I have this one in S60V. Rare find, in a knife shop in Paris, France. I couldn’t believe my eyes. No box and at a premium price but when the seller told me that it’s available I jumped over it like a hawk. It’s one of my most treasure...

Re: Police 4 K390 SE Testing Log

I do not believe you purchased a SE K390 Endura....unless I see some pics. Joke aside, I would like to see how long the plain edge is near the tip. It seems quite small and that is kinda meh for me. My serrated VG10 Endela has quite a long plain edge portion near the tip and I like that, not to men...

Yes, it does deserve a bump! Should have done this myself when I linked this very thread recently here https://forum.spyderco.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=95747#p1751776 (also quite some info about sharpening serrated K390). I am close to getting a K390 Endura SE myself now... seems like especially ...

Re: What makes a steel 'aggressive'?

Is that question what aggression is, or how aggression is achieved? I'm no expert, but aggression in an edge to me means the edge has a kind of "sticky" and biting feeling when pressed to the skin , where it seems to grab at the epidermis with barely any pressure at all. Sometimes if you ...
