Re: NCAA Football 2023
I'm definitely pulling for Washington. If Michigan wins, it will send a strong 'cheaters always prosper' message. And if the NCAA vacates the win after the fact, that will be an even bigger circus. Georgia's season next year looks brutal. Playing at Texas, at Alabama and at Ole Miss is quite a gaunt...

Re: NCAA Football 2023
To be fair to Florida State, they are playing without _most_ of their starters. Something like 85% of their offensive production opted out of this game. Although, at this point, UGA has 85% of their starters out of the game, and they just keep rolling.' For the record, I still think FSU was robbed, ...

Re: Manix Talk - Full sized VS Mini
I’m confused. Aren’t the knives being compared here a regular size Manix 2 Lightweight and a Manix 2 XL? Yes. > The Manix has open back construction while the Mini does not: One of the differences Vivi points out (open back construction) is not a difference between the standard and XL, but a differ...

Re: Worksharp Belt Sharpeners
I've found some custom 3d print files for guides at different angles. I wonder if you could find one that suits your preferred dps? Or just find someone to adjust one of the existing files for you.

Re: Worksharp Belt Sharpeners
as a less expensive alternative (belts are cheaper too), you could try the one I use. https://www.harborfreight.com/1-in-x-30-in-belt-sander-58359.html With certain sales or coupons they get as low as $40. No edge convexing as they have a hard backing behind the belt. I use it all the time. It's an...

Re: Worksharp Belt Sharpeners
I have been using one for several years. I'm a big fan. It's definitely the fastest way to get a super sharp edge. I use it all the time on scissors (for sewing at work), kitchen knives, EDC knives. The speed is variable, so you don't overdo it and burn the edge, but I've sat there with my hand on t...

This one always makes me laugh, because my perspective on skydiving is substantially different from most.

Re: Making micarta more grippy
You can always re-sand at a lower grit than factory, but I'm uncertain how much grippier that will make it. Scouring pad seems like a good idea.

You can rough it up with a file, making alternating grooves. But that changes the profile. Do you want to do it without altering the profile?

Anderson, are you familiar with Smedley Butler? If not, you should read 'War is a Racket'.

Re: December 7th, A Day that will live in infamy
For what it's worth, I think the US killed the wrong guy. If they could have killed Tojo (which would have been much harder) there is some (small) chance that Yamamoto could have taken over the politics and ended the war. Perhaps that's true but IMO after Pearl Harbor and then the Japanese treatmen...

Re: December 7th, A Day that will live in infamy
There is some argument as to whether this was legally a military battle or a targeted political assassination. I agree that some try to argue that but they are usually left leaning academics. There was nothing wrong legally or morally then or now with the decision to target the enemies command stru...

Re: December 7th, A Day that will live in infamy
With the strength of the USA in terms of industry and resources, Japan lost that war the moment they started the shooting: it was just a matter of time. And they knew that before they launched the attack: "In the first six to twelve months of a war with the United States and Great Britain I wi...
