Re: New Models Dropped: Meerkat, Baby Jess Horn, Manix Composite

I'm happy to report my Jess Horn came today and its perfect, must have gotten lucky, centered, not gritty at all, even grinds and blade drops when disengaged, I like it. I got mine today too and the finish on it is overall excellent with smooth action. The lanyard hole however was, not so good. Rou...

Re: Manix2 CPM 154/S90V

Just got mine too that I had preordered 8 months ago. My guess would be that they delayed the release to give a better chance at sales to the CS orange lw s90v exclusive

Re: Manix 3?

I don't know, putting a cbbl on such a small folder is going to make it really wide for such a short blade, especially when closed. Also, this would essentially make it no different from the new q-ball, except with a little more belly on the blade and the cage around the ball bearing.

Re: S110V question

I also sharpen to 15dps with microbevel but haven't experienced chipping. Some theorize it has to do with the relative large vanadium carbides -- if you use a sharpening medium that doesn't cut cleanly through the super hard carbides, it may jar loose the carbides in the matrix instead of just cutti...

Re: Name your best bang for your buck spydie readily available

For pure value, any of the current offerings in s110v or maxamet. Even just a few ago, you'd be hard pressed to find anything in those steels at less than 5x what they're selling for now (with exception of the forum native). The lightweights like native manix ukpk especially are amazing value.

Re: Is MSRP for disco'd/sprint runs fair pricing?

I've paid close to msrp for several hard to find sprints. Only time I've paid over msrp was for the s90v/cf manix 2 which was a 400pc run and I was unlikely to see another. Like others have said, sometimes I'm just happy to see someone still has it available, even at a premium. I don't think it's un...

Re: Poll: Flippers

I have a mantra, zt450 and a skyline. The only one that gets carried is the mantra and that's always deployed with thumbhole. Not a big fan of flippers and just got the mantra because it's basically a slightly longer delica in m4. Honestly I think it's almost a waste of resources to offer so many fl...

Re: S30V Techno? Spyderco has some explaining to do.

Soooo.. the s30v variant is not very collectible, at least not according to the free market. Just picked one up on the bay in like new condition with box/paperwork and factory edge for $138. Maybe it would've caught more bids if the seller linked this thread. Didn't actually expect to be high bidder...

Native cutting edge is basically 2.5". Sounds like you need to find yourself a never summer native.

Re: Crazy deals @ Sierra and other places

That's a crock lol. I just looked at the sage 5 I got on there with the coupon and it was from top quality knives and they are now no longer listed in sporting goods. Looks like I got lucky. Appreciate your business. We did not move the knife out of the category, but we did sale out so that may be ...

Re: MAXAMET VS. GIRLY STEELS

never, ever use the flat sides of the rods. Could you elaborate on that, please? Because in my free-hand experience I was able to get a mirror polish on the UF's flat side. I'm also curious to hear why you only use the corners. For touch ups, I also free hand with a single SM rod but use only the f...

Re: Spyderco P.I.T.S.

Love my PITS, it's a great design with a really clever lock bar. I especially like the satin finish on the blade, it's unlike any other spyderco I have. In general, I carry locking blades but because I'm in NYC, when I know I'll be taking public transport I usually go for the PITS. I have to agree t...

Re: Would You Send This In To Warranty?

Personally I would try to swap it. Definitely something that would bother me. One of the major reasons spyderco has such a dedicated following is the tight tolerances they maintain and take great pride in.

Re: Crazy deals @ Sierra and other places

I was supposed to get mine this week but instead got a notice from Amazon that shipment is being delayed 1-2 months and to confirm I still wanted it. This is concerning because it's pretty much what happens when I ordered the 52100 Millie for about $150 and they never fulfilled.
