Re: Next dumb question !

Almost too many choices. But just about anything will serve you. Some will be easier to sharpen, some will need some maintenance (minimal). Really, best bet is to find a profile/shape/type/locking mechanism that you like, and then see which steels are still an option. From there, decide what your pr...

Re: If John Wick carried a spydie?

I see him with a pair of serrated civilians, spinning and slashing his way out of a crowded elevator.

But let's face it, a matchup with him with a dragonfly against somebody with a machete would be epic!

Re: Shaman 15V, Bad QC

OK, that's it, I'm finally convinced! We should all start taking advantage of everyone around us, all the time, without remorse. :O What's it matter, it's not illegal, so that must mean we can! If we can, we should! ',:-| See my point? I don't think you can lump gasoline, groceries and luxury knive...

Re: Shaman 15V, Bad QC

I don't think you can lump gasoline, groceries and luxury knives together. I also think everybody is missing the point of these limited run knives. It is not to get knives into the hands of the people who will most treasure them, and use them to their full extent of their designed capabilities. It i...

Re: Shaman 15V, Bad QC

As was said before, it is a luxury item. Nobody is stealing anything from anyone. They have a faster connection, or a bot or whatever, but they are just playing the game. The hype that surrounds exclusives, sprints etc and their success is, in part, so because of the flippers. If we were all meant t...

Re: The Paramilitary 2 is the best knife Spyderco has ever made.

I think there is a real reason the PM2 is listed in just about any top XX Knives of all time. I just does what it does extremely well. Is it the best knife out there, hard no. Is it the best knife Spyderco makes... depends on the user and the use case. This is also a very specific group with more th...

Re: New Spyderco Paysan CQI: defective & disappointing

When you use two hands and only use perpendicular pressure with no rearward pressure, is it better? Did you clean it ? I did clean it. It is a little easier with two hands, still a definite "click" when it unlocks, which speaks to the issue at least in part. The design seems to need a loc...

Re: New Spyderco Paysan CQI: defective & disappointing

Got mine on Friday. I will say, I had figured reddit and threads like these were just anomalies. And they probably are, but unfortunately I am numbered amongst the anomalies. I am surprised by the degree of lock stick and the lack of lock bar access given the propensity for lock stick apparent in th...

Re: ivory FRN would be fun

I really enjoyed RIT dying my ivory FRN stretch. It was an incredibly simple process. It would be cool if there was perhaps a regular ivory or white FRN Delica and Native available. G-10 is a lot harder to dye. Well, harder enough that I haven’t succeeded yet, lol. G10 is quite easy. Get Rid-Dyemor...

Re: best locking mechanism for deer hunting folder?

A certain lockback (not naming because in the General Forum) has probably dressed more animals than any 5 (++ possibly many more) other folders combined. I guess that system works just fine. But I agree with some of the above, you probably couldn't go wrong with a frame lock.

Re: Major weight difference👀. Why ❓❓🫠❓❓

At 280lbs I don't notice an ounce... ever. I feel like you could weigh 1000lbs and still feel the weight difference and especially the balance difference in your hand. That's where it matters most to me. That said I think my current favorite knives are among the heavier options in the catalog (Auto...

Re: Major weight difference👀. Why ❓❓🫠❓❓

At 280lbs I don't notice an ounce... ever. It is like the time the guy tried to sell me a carbon fibre road bike. His major selling point was that it was x ounces (maybe pounds... who knows) lighter. I thought I sweat that in an hour. We won't even talk about the weight difference a bathroom break m...

Re: Paramilitary or Manix

Completely unsolicited advise,

If you are looking comp lock and aren't concerned with "handedness" consider the caribbean.

If you aren't completely sold on either, consider the Stretch 2. Great knife that is almost a backlock PM2.

Re: Sharpening and bladeprotection.

does anyone have experience with the fallkniven dc4? it's a diamond plate on one side and ceramic on the other. i've also considered getting a double stuff 2 as an alternative, but it's considerably more expensive. it would primarily be for a field sharpener. I have both. On the DC4 both sides are ...

Re: SE MagnaCut Testing Thread

It would/will be interesting to see the same test after you have sharpened the knife half a dozen times or so to get rid of any burnt steel and whatnot that may have been there from production.

Great test and write-up.

Cheers

Re: Spydie flick Stretch 2?

I find I slow roll most of my knives now. For the reason navin mentions (public attention), as well as in my incessant flicking days my wife wanted to murder me for the click/clack every so many seconds while we were watching tv.
