Never had a problem with Spyderco Customer Service and never thought to vent my QC problems here before going to Spyderco first. I just don't see the point in venting and complaining until you first contact Customer Service and get the knife checked out. If things go wrong from there, then vent away...

I don't see the point of the ball lock when you have better options such as the compression lock, liner lock or back lock. There were better options for the D'Allara, Manix 2 and XL. However, on a knife such as the poliwog where the lock works perfectly with the knife design, and other locks would n...

While it may not be considered a super steel, the great thing about VG-10 is that it only takes about 5 to 10 minutes on the sharpmaker to get it hair-popping sharp again!

Recent Acquisitions

These showed up just before the hurricane. http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x446/oniononmybelt/IMAG0096.jpg http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x446/oniononmybelt/IMAG0101.jpg Really impressed with these knives. No F&F issues that I can see. The Caly was a bit gritty when first opening and ne...

What blade steel does your Military model have "Onionman"?? I'd be willing to bet it's 440V? Albeit it seems like VG-10 is the one that can really take the punishment on the Japan side. I sure would like to try out a fully serrated blade in S90V though. I would think its 440V, but the bla...

My Military SE has taken a good amount of hard use, but not abuse. Mostly yard work, cutting branches, cord, and plastic. Digging and some gentle prying as well. Its still in great shape. Have to keep up with the sharpening, but its worth it since the serrations make cutting so much easier.

The SFO would know whether they have a black clip from another model that could work. It looks similar to an endura 4 clip. You can usually call and order one from the SFO for under $10 shipped if you live in the continental US.

Last year I made my flight plans to go out to Denver the week before Thanksgiving with the thought that I could go to the SFO sale, only to find out it was canceled. It figures that the only time I can go they decide to cancel. Still had a great time and bought a bunch of knives from the SFO, so I g...

I agree. I forgot to mention that my Para 2's lock was smooth from the beginning as well. No problems.

As much as I love the comp lock on my Junior, I can see where people have complaints if they are carrying the Yo 2. When I first got the knife, the blade would not drop unless I pushed the lock in hard. I have broken it in since then, but it still sticks sometimes and is not nearly as smooth as the ...

While the original poster's reasons for using the Tuff to cut branches may seem foolish when you consider the other options available, it does concern me that had it been an emergency situation when you cannot account for every possible use, there was a failure of the Tuff in some respect from an ac...

Online chat would work too. Also, I don't think there will be too much cost involved when you consider that the designers and Spyderco are looking for their product to sell so I would not be surprised if they did it for nothing. Also, if its in an online chat format, the maker could be anywhere and ...

Really? I realize conventional liner framelocks would not work, but I'm hard pressed to understand why a midlock wouldn't. Not knowing about lock design myself, no one has said that putting a midlock on this knife is impossible. However, just from what I heard on past threads and descriptions of th...

I assume that this thread was started just to elicit a response, since the compression lock has IMO opened the door to all kinds of new designs for pocket knives. The Junior, my favorite knife and the most ergonomic knife I have ever used, would not have been possible if not for this lock. So missio...

It's a good looking knife. But the fit and finish on mine leave something to be desired (especially compared to my Damascus Delica, which is flawless). I have both and find that I carry the Junior much more than the Para 2. I love the look and feel of the XL, but I have the same pocket issues. Not only is it pretty wide, but the clip position has the knife sit too high in the pocket. I am looking to see if I can get a deep pocket clip for it, which I hope will do the trick.
