Re: HELP PLEASE - New Collection ideas - appreciate some input.

If you're looking for a user and something uniquely spyderco, check out the "salt" knives. I'm super exited for the upcoming native salt (I too am a native fan), and in my humble opinion no spyder collection is complete without an H1 SE hawkbill of some kind :D (they come in extra small, s...

Re: What's you're biggest folding knife pet peeve?

Ball bearings, plastic washers, smooth metal handles, liner locks, and finger biters (a blade that will cut your index finger on an accidental close or lock fail).

Re: Now's the time: For a New Hawkbill!!!

I love my SE DFly, but I find I use the little PE section at the tip more often than not. Now that I've learned how to get SE very sharp I like it way more than I used to.... but I still prefer PE. In maintenance, in the 'way' it cuts. Just in general. That said I'm totally getting one of those Syde...

.... Been praying for you guys. Hope all of the evacuated are home safe very soon. Hang in there. Joe Thank you Joe. I hope for everyone's safety and well-being too. I was fortunate again, many were not. A lot of horses were killed and a lot of structures were destroyed. That fire is 95% contained ...

Ya if you're overseas dyeing it yourself is probably the way to go. I hear it's easy, and the Yellow FRN is pretty receptive to most colors. You could definitely dye it orange. Even dark blue.

..... Darn!! And I thought I was kind of up on the newer blade steels :o I freely admit that I've not heard of or ever encountered this "VTOKU" steel you speak of Mr. Zrow >> tell us about it. Do you think it would be a good steel for Spyderedges???? It's new to me as well JD :D I know it...

Re: Native 5 Salt

I just wish it will also be offered with black handle. I like the yellow (even searched for an old school Aqua Salt so I could get the yellow handle) but for EDC I prefer a more discrete color. I needed a more discrete handle color for my Yellow HBDfly. I contacted KnivesPlus and they said they cou...

Re: Now's the time: For a New Hawkbill!!!

Get my PM Joe? Yes SIR!! I got it ;) So how about a super big Hawkbill made from a Civilian model? A G-10 Harpy or CF Harpy should be high priority in that size range. With the latest posts about how good larger hawkbills like the Spyderhawk making a great gardening and/or landscaping tool you just...

Re: Trimmed a 16lb Brisket with my PMA11 Mule

So this got a little funny. I had my shirt off and my wife took a bunch of pics, but I will spare you guys from most of them. Apparently a shirtless man butchering a big chunk of meat is a turn on for the ladies. I will leave it at that... Lulz. You really need to submit that for next years Spydie ...

Re: VTOKU Sprint Run

Can someone explain to me why this will be a fun steel?.... Well for me a hawkbill dragonfly with a PE tool steel would be more 'fun-ctional' than just plain 'fun'. But I must admit I get a joy out of trying new steels. Take Cru-wear for example, not the best steel I own, not even in my top 5 favor...

Re: Spyderco Reverse VS Ronin 2

A rounded stone works better, but you could sharpen the Reverse with the lansky. It'll hit the corners of your stones more than the middle, but it's doable. Just use a sharpie on the edge so you can see where it's hitting.

Re: Spyderco Reverse VS Ronin 2

I've got the folding versions of both knives (yojimbo and p'kal). Both styles seem pretty effective in practice, depends on what you prefer. I would say if you prefer a 'stab-centric' knife the Reverse is what you want. When you poke something with it you will easily go to the hilt so to speak. If y...

Couldn't say about the Military 2. I think the Maxamet para 3 is officially a 2017 sprint and may be coming soon. So it's not in the 2018 catalog.
