Shaun please send me your knife. I’d like to do some side by side testing against Luong’s. ;)

Re: Look What I Received In The Mail A Couple Days Ago...

I didn’t get it either, but now that I do hahaha... Really don’t know why the pics keep posting sideways. Hey Jase, at least you can post pics. It took me near two years and I couldn’t have done it without brother Sharp Guy’s help and tutorials. (Thanks again Pat.) Glad you’re enjoying your ...

Re: Look What I Received In The Mail A Couple Days Ago...

Bloke- I don't get it? (I'm sure it's meant to be funny?) I think he meant to imply "whiplash," because in an earlier post Jase was displeased with the squeak/whine from the knife? (When Bloke posted the Earsoft earplug pic) My take is that he meant it as humor, not snark, but it is easy ...

Re: Tip Up Military Mod

Certainly valid points Lance. I’m just not that rigid and as I said in an earlier post I’d happily carry a knife I like either tip up or down. :) My personal view is I dislike holes all over knives. The Military just happens to be my favourite large folder and it doesn’t have holes all over the scal...

Re: Tip Up Military Mod

Not to mention the fact that most of the folks asking for the design to remain tip down only already own at least one copy of the knife where those who want a tip up Millie comprise a relatively fresh and untapped market for the Millie. From Spyderco’s perspective it seems like an easy decision to ...

Re: Hey Sal, any chance of a Vanax SC mule??

Hey Bloke, sorry to hear about your boating accident. Guess that knife ended up on the bottom? ;) Lucky to have lived T! As it went all I lost was Luong’s knife. Ah, hahaha! :p Say what?? Ah, hahaha! :) Lance I’m trying to come up with a plausible excuse to not return Luong’s knife. If y...

Re: Hey Sal, any chance of a Vanax SC mule??

After bungled pressure/baton cut 16d nail, I gather enough data to skip the bending test. Vanax 0.110" thick, 4.25" blade 61rc HT 2.51 Sharpened: 15dps, 0.015-0.017" behind edge thickness https://youtu.be/0qFUcEYhUzU Much tougher than I imagined. I’d have thought at 61RC the blade wo...

Re: best steel type for flint fire strikers?

I used to use a small Nicholson Points File that I ground one edge flat and it throws good sparks but it’s a little flimsy. The best striker I’ve found is a 1/2” HSS parting off blade as used on a lathe. They are fairly cheap and you can cut it to the same length as your ferro rod and keep them both...

Re: Update - What Can I Do About This Squeaking??

Personally I’d pull it apart, clean it, lube it with a big of froglube on the detent path and nano oil in the pivot. That’s just me though There’s a couple things I’m thinking of doing and this is one of them. But I’m gonna let the break-in takes its course without lube for now. Jase, this is indee...

Re: Great Customer Service Is Hard To Come By...

I’ve not bought anything from CutleryShoppe. Only because their shipping rates to Oz are quite high but I’ve bought knives from KnifeCentre and KnifeWorks. I’ve also bought plenty (not knives) from Cabela’s, Brownell’s, Sinclair’s, BrunoShooters and others and I couldn’t be happier in my dealings wi...

Re: Hey Sal, any chance of a Vanax SC mule??

I've a 61rc vanax stick tang 4.25" blade(no handle) ready for abusive tests. Quite iffy to have time to test wear resistance, so I am thinking - just slow mo video pressure/baton cut a dried cooked pork rib bone and then 16D nail with 18dps edge. Show macro pics of impacted edge sections. Then...

I think you’ll be very happy with the little chainsaw Pat. :) My little Ladyhawk punches way above its weight. I like it already Alex! I was kind of torn between the Ladybug HB or Dragonfly HB. I already have a SE Ladybug so I opted for the Dragonfly. I'm a big fan of the Dragonfly so I'm pr...

Not exactly in my pocket (yet). But I received this little guy today from the eBay sale. My first Hawkbill and my first yellow-handled Salt. I think we're gonna get along just fine. http://i.imgur.com/zPUPC14.jpg I think you’ll be very happy with the little chainsaw Pat. :) My little Ladyhawk punch...
