if a cop hassles me, i'll claim its a tool, not a weapon. they don't bust people if they carry a swiss army knife in their pocket, do they? what about pens? i could cause grave physical damage to someone with just a pen. arrest me for concealing that. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=1...

lock types?

anyone have a web page or what not of different blade lock types? pictures would be nice, so i can actually recognize one, instead of just being able to spout out "oh, a liner lock is blah blah blah whereas a lockback is blah bleh blah but blah"?

incidentally, the spyderco dealer listed as closest to me happens to be a florist. i walked in, and said "hi, i think i made a mistake... i thought you sold spyderco knives here."

"oh, we do!" said the petite, elderly woman behind the counter, watering some petunias.

hmm... the clip on my native is shiny... i could have gotten a dark, nonreflective one? i'd have liked that better. (also, a way to blacken and matte out the blade too) oh well. i haven't had these knives 12 hours and i'm still looking for stuff to cut... i don't think theres a box or newspaper left...

just recieved my native and spydercard... hints?

would oiling the "hinge" be a good idea? i have some gun oil that i use to lube my paintball markers mechanisms... would this be a good or bad idea to apply to the knives?

or do i just need to work them a bit, break them in a little?

wouldn't that just make it black, but not do anything about it being reflective? i think he was referring to the black/grey powder coat a lot of tacknives have. but, if thats the only thing one can do, i might just try it- especially if its so easily undone by a bit of alcohol <img src="smile.g...

from what i read, yes... a lot of states in the US (and airlines too!) are very restrictive. the smaller they are, the less questionable they are, from a legal standpoint. i think 3 inches is where airlines and authorities start questioning them, and isn't the gunting just under 3 inches?
