Re: Native 5 salt is Magnacut?

Thanks for the inside scoop DBH! With a new steel I much prefer that Spyderco go to these lengths to optimize it before rushing to production. This is the downside inherent in the general public knowing about a new steel during its development; gotta stay patient!!

Re: Kroil for knife preserving

For any long term storage you need to make sure the blade is truly clean and dry. Coating a blade with a preservative can seal in the corrosion-promoting elements and let them have their way with the steel.

Re: Finally found my Grail Spydie!

I’m not sure I have a grail knife. I’m mighty interested in the choil-less Shaman. There are pieces of several knives I really like, such as the Viele blade but not the handle. The Goddard blades look fantastic. An amalgamation of the Military’s blade in a PM2-sized choil-less handle would be outsta...

The Astute really reminds me of a Canadian pattern hunting knife, like the Grohmann.

Hi Woodpuppy, it is a Black Widow PSAX in Osage (except for the limb tips) which grows all over the pace here.
The black and red string should have clued me in. I didn’t know BW was using that scrolled lam in the limbs now. Osage is some gorgeous stuff!

Re: Wedding Spydie

Choose carefully! One of the few Benchmades I have left is the knife I bought for my wedding. I also got my groomsmen, FIL, and BIL matching knives. All LE versions of the 705 model with silver G10 scales.

Some good suggestions here, good luck!

It’s not everyday you run across a knife that makes the Squarehead look big! New blacked-out Wharnie Manbug arrived today. I’m gonna enjoy this little guy. I need to find one of those titanium beads with the blue grooves, the bronze storm trooper is a mite weighty. E3093395-889E-4279-B770-45A37E48D...

Re: Swick Thoughts (with pics)

It looks like the shape of the ring on the 5 also accommodates larger fingers behind the ring (middle and ring fingers) due to the shape/slope there. The 6 has the middle and ring fingers more inset behind the finger hole/ring.

Wait…. Reverse it.

Re: Does you S.O. asks you this question?

Knives are a relatively inexpensive hobby until you start collecting customs. It gets a lot worse when you have to explain away one of these... Not too likely for me, and for more reasons than it's the wrong brand. I did buy a used Jeep a few years ago but I had been talking about it for a long tim...

Here's a link to a law firm serving several states in the midwest. Article covers Good Samaritan Laws in Iowa and Illinois. You can see how different two adjoining states can be. For instance, in Illinois, you are considered a Good Samaritan when you render first aid to someone only if you are cert...
